Interactive Whiteboard in a Young Learner's ESL Class - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Interactive whiteboards have been around since the turn of the millennium. They have been implemented and studied in multiple ESL classrooms, primary schools, and language centers in order to find the best practices. The American Council of the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) acknowledges the importance of using technology, such as the interactive whiteboard, to support and enhance classroom-based instructions (Segni & Davidson, 2019). In order for the interactive whiteboard to be used effectively to take advantage of learning opportunities and support children's learning, it is important to use it skillfully in education.

Simple Ideas for Teaching Grammar
Sarah Jennings
Teaching Ideas
By Kyle Cullinan
In the past, grammar was taught based on the memorisation of rules. This may work for other languages, but it is not the most effective and creative way to teach or learn English grammar. Trying to "translate" grammar from your mother tongue into English does not always work because another language has a different way of expressing or another way of thinking that is not always the same equivalent to English. The best way to learn another language is to live in that language and this means to live and work or study in the country where they speak the language. However, sometimes this is not possible and therefore, students are left to learn from books in most cases.
Encouraging students to learn grammar through writing allows them to delve... [Read more]

Tefl reviews - English Grammar Present Perfect Continuous Teaching Ideas 3 Pay For English Teachers - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT
In this video we look at a TESOL teaching idea for the Present Perfect Continuous. This tense is the one we use when we want to say what has been happening. The activity in the video is called "Guess what I've been doing?" It is a fun activity that can generate a lot of student talk time. Students each receive a card that has two pieces of information on it, a past activity and a result. Each student has a turn of telling the class the result and the class then has to guess the activity using the Present Perfect Continuous. For example, the past activity on a card is "You have been driving your motorbike in the rain", the result written on the card is "You are all wet. Your clothes are wet". The other students could ask, "Have you been swimming?", "Have you been washing the dog?"... [Read more]

In this video we look at a teaching idea for the 'going to' future tense. This tense is often used to make predictions based on evidence and the idea covered here focuses on this usage. As you can see in the video, this idea is suitable for low level students as it uses pictures and verb prompts. Students choose a verb and one of the pictures that best match the verb. For example the student might choose "wash" and the picture of the shampoo bottle: "He is going to wash his hair". 5 Simple Ideas on Teaching Grammar - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
I think of myself as having been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to learn other languages at a young age. I was taught French in primary school and at home, I learned or acquired Spanish. At school, I remember my language teacher being very textbook-oriented and she focused and followed the book to the "T". I picked up easily on the grammar because I had already learned Spanish at home and I was also very keen to learn foreign languages, especially French. The grammar didn't seem difficult or boring to me at all because I had already been exposed to the language at a very early age. However, many students didn't feel the same way I did and had difficulty with the subject and therefore, developed a disinterest in learning another language.... [Read more]

5 Ideas How to Differentiate in The Classroom - TEFL Blog

Teaching Ideas
Every person is unique and every person learns in different ways. Identifying how each individual learns might sound like a challenging task to perform as a teacher. However, there are several tests that institutions and teachers can provide to students in order to identify the different types of learners they have in their classrooms. It is the theory of Multiple Intelligences by Howard Gardner that shows how people have a variety in ways of learning. Some tests have been designed based on his theory and can be found online. Some of the Multiple Intelligences mentioned by Gardner include, but are not limited to Visual-Spatial, Linguistic-Verbal, Musical, Bodily-kinesthetic and Naturalistic. Through identifying the different types of learners, teachers... [Read more]
