Conditionals and Reported Speech - Reported Speech Teaching Ideas

This video presents a teaching idea for reported speech. The activity includes having the students walk around the classroom asking other students for various bits of information. At the end of the activity, the students will report back the answers in reported speech.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

This unit is about teaching receptive skills. These skills are reading and listening and both have different purposes. These skills can be used for a purpose or for entertainment. Scanning the newspaper for sports scores is an example of using a receptive skill (reading) for a purpose. Listening to your favorite CD is an example of using a receptive skill for entertainment. In this segment we focused on tenses and phases, a key element of learning the English Language. It is particularly important to focus on the correct use of both passive voice and phrasal verb during advanced English learning. However, it is not so important for beginners. Beginners should focus on basic words and pronunciation in learning, making this a more advanced task.
