The Essential Set of Personal Qualities Every Teacher Should Have - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
Since my childhood, I have been frequently asked the same question "what kind of teacher do you want?" At different life stages, I have different answers. When I was a kid, I would say a teacher who dresses neatly and smiles nicely; when I was a teenager, I would prefer a "cool" teacher as a good teacher, who behaves differently from other boring and stereotyping adults; until I grow up, I think a good teacher should have sound subject knowledge, be fair and consistent with all of the students as well as being sensitive to the students' reactions and providing necessary support, and until now I know being a good teacher has nothing to do with his/her appearances and dressings.
What makes a good teacher?

Teachers Never Stop Learning - A TEFL Alumna's Thoughts on Being a Teacher - TEFL Blog
Linda Dunsmore
Alumni Experiences
My teaching experience began in a whirlwind. I graduated from college a semester ahead of my class, married, lived with my husband in my sister's basement for two months, and moved to South Korea. We had no idea what to expect. Sure, we'd read the blogs, talked to the director of our school, and even talked with people we know who had lived and taught in Korea. It still didn't fully prepare us for what to expect, how amazing it would be, and how hard. We lived in South Korea for 19 months teaching three through seven year olds daily and first through third graders several times each week.

What are the benefits of teaching English in a one-on-one tutoring setting for TEFL teachers? - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL & TESOL
One of the key benefits of teaching English in a one-on-one tutoring setting as a TEFL teacher is the opportunity to provide a personalized learning experience for the student. In a one-on-one setting, the teacher can tailor the lessons to the student's individual needs, learning style, and pace. This personalized approach allows the teacher to focus on the areas where the student needs the most help, whether it's grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, or conversational skills. When a class is managed well, there is a minimum of disruptions that distract from learning. This is more of an issue in a class for children, as opposed to adults. Nevertheless, in all classes, maintaining the comportment of the group to facilitate learning is the objective of sound classroom management techniques. Furthermore, it is also important to develop cordial and friendly relations with learners on an individual basis, and with the class as a whole. Having a rapport with students, and creating a classroom community that is based on shared rules and norms that are understood and reasonable for everybody, is an essential part of classroom management. Principles of Teacher-Student Communication for Classroom Trust - TEFL Blog

When presented with the dilemma to name the most important element of education, one has many options. A music teacher would comment that a student's willingness to express himself/herself rhythmically takes precedence over anything else-the role of the teacher is not heavily emphasized. An advanced math teacher would say that the students' motivation for learning the subject holds extreme importance. A kindergarten teacher might answer that keeping the students' interest is paramount. All of these scenarios are true.

Traditional Point of View on The Teaching Job - TEFL Blog

According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a teacher is defined as one who teaches or ones whose occupation is to instruct. A good definition however in today's society I believe that the teacher's role has more meaning and is not that simple. And as the years go by it has continued to grow. Before starting my career as a teacher I highly agreed with the first definition but after spending a little over six months inside of the classroom I realize how much more a teacher role can be. The role of a teacher not only fosters the growth in students academically but also provides mentoring, role modeling and several other components.
