Why Should I Complete a TEFL Course?
As a secondary English teacher, there is one question that I kept asking myself "Why complete a TEFL course?" I have had years of experience teaching English literature, figures of speech, the technical aspect of academic English which are the structure of sentences, different tenses, etc. However, Teaching English as a Foreign Language is different from teaching academic English subject. Completing a TEFL course made me realized that it is better for students to learn faster and understand better on how students will be able to communicate to the outside world using the English language.

Striking Reasons Why to Complete a TEFL Course
Why complete a TEFL course: As a child, I did always have a passion for English language and teaching as a profession. This desire started while I was a child, having been opportune to had lived in one of the biggest cities in my country and attended some of the good schools around, I was good in English and literature classes and my grades were always good. I exhibited a great interest in the English language, teaching and volunteering to tutor the less privileged ones amongst my family members and friends within my reach.

6 Reasons Why to Complete a TEFL Course
Over the years I have pondered whether or not to try and teach English as a career. Watching countless online videos and reading travel blogs of 'wandering teachers' and articles on sites such as ' Dave's ESL Café, I sort of got mixed emotions about ESL teachers. That is of course until I took the chance and became one myself.

Why Would Someone Want to Complete a TEFL Course?
There are many reasons why a person might be interested in becoming TEFL certified. Initially, I only really had one reason, is that it'd be an interesting way to start my career as a teacher and would determine if this was something I wanted to do with a big portion of my life. One of my major life goals is revamping the American education system and making it more efficient, especially on the public-school level. I've learned a decent amount about how education is handled in several countries outside of America and while no system is perfect, there are things we could be doing better. By finding a TEFL job in another country I'd be able to gain experience as a teacher as well as... [Read more]

Why Complete a TEFL Course? - Is it really helpful?
For me, the decision to take a TEFL course was one that I had not planned on at any time in my life until recently. English to me was never my strongest subject in school. As an American growing up I found my personal education experience to be fairly mundane and unrewarding. The courses that I enjoyed more were math and science, especially physics. These topics seemed to hold my interest better. Traditional school was never a priority to me, but an understanding of how things work and why is what captivated my interest.

4 Reasons Why You Should Complete a TEFL Course
I chose to take a TEFL course to make me more professional. I am an English teacher and I teach young kids from the age of 4 to 12 in China. I have been teaching kids for around 7 years. I was teaching kids from Grade 1 to Grade 5 in a public primary school in China. Now I teach young kids in a language training center. Teaching in a Chinese public school is totally different to teaching in a private training center. In a public school, what the teacher does everyday is giving the questionnaire to the students and have them complete as many questionnaires as possible. The goal is for students to remember the grammar rules and know how to give correct answers so that they can do well in their... [Read more]

Why it is Important to Complete a TEFL Course
People may think that taking a TEFL course is not necessary to be a good teacher. Along with that, TEFL courses cost both time and money, so, understandably, people question whether it is even worth it to take the course. Although many people have become successful teachers without taking a TEFL course, these courses can provide teachers and aspiring teachers tips for managing a class and creating a more efficient lesson plan. Also, when teaching English in a foreign country, knowledge of the English language is not the only thing someone needs to know; teachers need to be aware of a variety of issues that can arise when teaching in a foreign country. Notably, they need to consider how... [Read more]

Reasons Why You Should Complete a TEFL Course Before Starting Teaching
Many non-native English speaking countries only require teachers to have a bachelor's degree, and it can be in any field. It can be a degree in anything at all, thus not having prepared the future teacher for their new job and life. Some other countries don't require a bachelor's degree at all. With the rise in demand for learning English as a second language has come the increased relevance and need for courses such as TEFL. I'm an example of someone who had no background in teaching, and I also didn't take a course before I dove in. I had to "fake it till I made it" and looking back, that was unfair to the students. Even if I wasn't breaking any laws and I was... [Read more]

Why Teachers Need to Complete a TEFL Certification Course Before Heading Overseas
English has quickly become the leading language of the world. Whether we like it or not, most countries have chosen English as the language of business and international interaction, and because of this, many are pushing their people to learn English as a second language. To help guide this initiative, many businesses, schools, and private households are hiring native English-speakers to teach English to those wishing to learn. While learning directly from a native speaker is the ideal way to learn a new language, unfortunately, it is common for many English speakers to go abroad and hope to be able to teach effectively with no prior... The Benefits of Completing a TEFL Course
Many people who begin teaching English as a second language are new to the teaching world, and thus many times, need basic strategies and information on teaching. For example, I have entered education upon moving to Italy. My previous work experience was in marketing/events for large corporations and nonprofits, with no experience in teaching anything, let alone English as a second language. While I have a very good grasp of the English language and speak it well, how to teach it to others is a different ballgame. Hence, taking the TEFL courses to obtain a certification was essential in my development as a teacher.

Strong Reasons for Completing a TEFL Course
Why complete a TEFL course? All the mainstream ads answer this question with, "Travel the World", "Work and Live Abroad" "Discover different Cultures", "Meet new People" and "Learn the local Language", all are great reasons. I had to ask myself this a few times. I have lived in many non-English speaking countries over the years and over these years have assisted many locals with their English homework or extra studies. I am a native English speaker, I know how to speak English; I have done it all my life so why would I need to take a TEFL course?
