The Day the Planet Earth Speaks English
In Crystal (2003) the statement "English Rules" is said to present a scenario wherein the English language spreads continuously and becomes universal. This is a real possibility in the next century, as the technological and socio-economic developments are improving the quality of life and are enhancing the way we live and learn. The English language is well on its way to become the world's first "lingua franca" if it has not already. It is said that a language achieves a genuinely global status once it has developed a special role that is recognized in every country across the planet. However, caution should be taken, as according to Crystal (2003) the special role has more than one... [Read more]

Goats On The Road
Nick and Dariece are the cofounders of Goats On The Road, one of the most trafficked and trusted travel and lifestyle websites online. After quitting their "normal" jobs in Canada back in 2008, they've been travelling and living abroad fulltime — while earning an income on the road.
In 2012, Nick and Dariece decided to teach English in Yangzhou, China for a year. This was one of the best experiences of their lives.
During that year of teaching, they were able to build up Goats On The Road into what it is today. Their goal is to show you how to make money on the road, lead a happier lifestyle, and travel for as long as you want. Follow the "Goats" and learn how to become an English teacher online, run your own website, become a house sitter, and more.

The Emphasis on the Need for Teaching Productive Skills
The productive skills, in my definition, are skills that require the students to articulate or produce words, sounds, speeches, or sentences either in written or typed form. The productive skills are speaking and writing. The productive skills are essential and are needed for communicative purposes in our day to day activities.

The Influence of English on Globalization
A global language ranks high both in terms of the number of countries where it is spoken as well as the number of people who speak that language either as native speakers or as second language speakers. People often talk about English as a global language. Statistics show that more than 350 million people around the world are speaking English as a first language and more than 430 million are speaking it as a second language. A common world language becomes a need with the advent of large international bodies like the United Nations, World Bank, World Health Organization and UNICEF(1945). The need to be able to communicate freely with one language to people all around the world would help... [Read more]

My Philosophy on The Classroom Discipline
Discipline is an important aspect of any classroom working with younger students. I currently work at a middle school, and discipline is foundational to creating an inclusive, welcoming classroom environment. Adolescents at this stage are typically very confrontational towards authority and are testing the waters to what they can get away with, or disobey their teachers. I've noticed that teachers who set strict rules at the beginning of the year, tend to have an easier time maintaining authority in the classroom and keeping students engaged.

Thoughts on The Reasons for Lesson Planning
Teaching is a challenging labor that requires different factors to do it properly. First of all, the person who teaches has to have the vocation to help others. Otherwise, either the teacher or the students will enjoy the classes. Then, a teacher has to have clear that there are several aspects that the university does not prepare the teacher students.

The Secret Strategy on ESL Learner Motivation
I feel that this is a very important topic and part of the teaching experience, one of my biggest worries is that I won't be good enough at creating a classroom where the students feel encouraged, motivated and comfortable participating, of course, there are a lot of things that go into this, such as the way you teach the material and what you choose to teach, the way you maintain discipline in the classroom, how to create good rapport with all the students in your class, how to make the class "fun" and interesting for the students without trying to be TOO fun and derail from the point of the lesson, so I worry about a lot of these issues.

The Dependence of Teaching on Students Motivation
A highly motivated student is one who is goal-oriented, driven by passion and focused. He/she does things from the bottom of the heart. Motivation can be viewed as an internal impulse that brings us to complete an action. Without motivation, there is no action. Motivation is what moves or inspires the learner to achieve set objectives. It's the motor that drives the student to achieve pedagogical objectives. Hence it's an essential tool to equip students with, so that whatever they do it effectively and with perfection.

Besides the thousands of things they have on their minds (personal problems, health issues, daydreaming, etc.) and the temptation to just chat with their neighbors in the classroom, students can also be easily distracted by their smartphones. Am I on the Right Track? Forking the Paths of Teaching
"You speak too much in the class," "you always finish their sentences," "you answer back to the teens," "the classroom is a mess," "your lessons are boring." That was the feedback I would usually get in college during my teaching practice. So the final questions were always the same, "When am I going to be a good teacher?" What does it take apart from reading the theory?" "Why am I failing?" In this essay, I will briefly describe some of my experiences when teaching and the struggles on the way. I will also mention the importance of applying specific methods and techniques, taking different roles and the relation between lesson planning and the material to be used in class.

The Influence of English on a Student's Career
In the following essay, I will explain the importance of the English language for three important phases of a student's future, beyond secondary education. English has become the de facto standard language for communication at a global level. After Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, it is the third most prevalent native language on the planet, as well as the most amply spoken second language and the official language of many international organizations and businesses. It works as a common trade language since it allows two foreign people to communicate, based on its global reach.

Traditional Point of View on The Teaching Job
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a teacher is defined as one who teaches or ones whose occupation is to instruct. A good definition however in today's society I believe that the teacher's role has more meaning and is not that simple. And as the years go by it has continued to grow. Before starting my career as a teacher I highly agreed with the first definition but after spending a little over six months inside of the classroom I realize how much more a teacher role can be. The role of a teacher not only fosters the growth in students academically but also provides mentoring, role modeling and several other components.

The Lowdown On Teaching EFL in a Kindergarten
According to Jeanne Et Al (2009: 284) teachers are regarded as one of the most important socialization factors in every society in the world. A world without teachers would be a black hole without any fruitful improvements. Kindergarten English teachers are regarded as the backbone of any form of language acquisition as people climb the academic ladder. This is the first stage that children are exposed to a language that is completely foreign to them. Children at this stage are just beginning to become comfortable with one language and introducing a new language, especially one as complex as English, can, therefore, be difficult.

Tips on Increasing Teacher Confidence in the Classroom
Trying to gain confidence in the classroom is a hurdle that all new teachers must face when first starting. Every teacher I've spoken to, tells me about the horror they felt when they stood before their very first classroom full of students. As for myself, I am a teacher in training enrolled in an Elementary Education Bachelors program. In my program, we get a lot of practice creating lesson plans and teaching various subjects to our class. This practice has helped increase my confidence in teaching, but I still remember the first exposure I had teaching to children in an educational environment.

The Influence of Seating Arrangements on Classroom Productivity
The type of seating arrangement you choose for your classroom can depend on various factors as well as directly affect the productivity of your students. Classroom equipment, lessons, and activities, amount of students, as well as disciplinary measures, should all be considered when deciding on what type of seating arrangement will be appropriate to fit your lesson plan and or teaching style each day. Also deciding who sits where is just as important as the seating arrangement and lesson itself.
