Teacher’s Personality in the Classroom
There are millions of English teachers out there and how do we know if they are teacher material or not. We don’t. Because every single person in this world has its own unique qualities that are lovable by someone. However, there are certain qualities that are needed if you are an English teacher, but they are just my own opinion. Besides you should be able to teach English in English, I think patience is the most important quality a teacher should have. You will experience from the most annoying kid to the most unreasonable adult. How can you handle them without causing a scene? Patience is all you need. Sometimes all you need to do is to talk to them patiently and not lose your temper.... [Read more]

5 Steps to Work on Your ESL Teaching Career
When I started teaching English, I've always experienced imposter syndrome because my major was Linguistics. I had no idea about teaching itself, although I knew a lot about how the language works.
To change this situation, I've started working on my teaching skills to build a successful ESL teaching career.
In this blog post, I want to share five ways to start ESL teaching career development that helped begin my English teaching career, even though I had no degree in education.
Step 1: TEFL Course
As I've already mentioned, I studied linguistics in university and was quite advanced in English when I graduated. Right after that, I jumped at the... [Read more]

How to Organize and Manage Your ESL Classroom
As a teacher, it is easy to get caught up in lesson planning and become overwhelmed with the details of the subject at hand. However, the one thing that cannot be planned out is how a class will take in information. In the classroom, teachers can experience “unexpected.” From a dominant student that wants to answer every question to the student that does not want to engage in the lesson. Classroom management plays such an important part in the classroom and aids in the learning process. If teachers have a great lesson but poor classroom management, then the whole learning objective can be lost.

Can you make a living teaching English online? - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL & TESOL
Can you make a living teaching English online?
The amount of money you can make teaching English online is determined by a number of factors, including your qualifications, previous experience, and the organization for which you work. A typical hourly rate for online English teachers can range between $15 and $30. If you choose to work through an agency, as most online teachers do, they will most likely take a cut of your pay as a fee for providing you with students and materials.
Can you teach English online full-time?
Online English teaching is what you make it. Most online English companies allow you to work as much or as little as you want, so your online English teaching gig can range from part-time side hustle to a full-time career.
Online English teacher salaries vary depending on... [Read more]

Alumni Experience: Passionate Teaching in China
My personal experience being an ESL teacher in China. Does the content of TEFL, YouTube, LinkedIn and Blog’s have more prowess over a newly graduated university student with passion? Let us not forget, most training institutes are businesses first and education institutions second with advertising portraying the latter as their priority.

How To Start Your Own ESL Teaching Service
The number one question I had to answer before deciding to start Practical English Teacher was “Do I want a new boss or to be my own boss?”. I spent months asking myself this before I finally decided to do it. There’s a lot of security and credibility that comes with working for a larger ESL company. And I’m not knocking anyone who wants to do that but if you’re like me and you’re looking for some advice on where to start with your own ESL Service, let’s talk.
Starting Out
First and I would say most importantly, ask yourself, what is your teaching style? What is your expertise and how can you use that? People tend to say “I just don’t have a business mind”... [Read more]

My Plans as an EFL/ESL Teacher
When I envision myself in a classroom full of new English learners, I see myself striving to encourage and motivate students through positive student-to-student and student-to-teacher relationships. One of the key components of successfully learning a new topic is to enjoy it and to see a purpose in doing so. Creating a safe and welcoming environment is one of the most important things a teacher can do to ensure student learning by building confidence in every individual.

Lesson Planning Essentials
In my experience and the experience of my teacher colleagues, lesson planning has never been among the most interesting or engaging activities. The reasons are always different: some believe that lesson planning is not effective because a teacher cannot predict the direction of the lesson. Others think that it is a complete waste of time because the process of planning a lesson may seem boring and time-consuming. As a beginner teacher, I had a false belief that lesson planning is not important for an ESL teacher, especially if the group of students has a high level of English. However, after teaching for a longer period, I have realized that only with a certain amount of planning can an ESL lesson be not... [Read more]
What is an ESL teacher? - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ ITTT TEFL & TESOL
What is an ESL teacher?
Globalization and the increasing demand for English speaking professionals all over the world, especially in emerging regions, has brought about a new, steadily growing sector: English as a Second Language (ESL). An ESL teacher is, therefore, an educator who works with English Language Learners (ELLs) whose native language is not English. The goal of the ESL teacher is to help the students reach a certain level of fluency in English, on both a spoken and written level.
How is an ESL teacher different for a foreign language teacher?
ESL educators are not to be confused with foreign language teachers. ESL teachers do not share the same native language and are specifically trained to offer explanations and directed teaching methods to non-English speakers. This... [Read more]

Praise is Imperative for Young ESL Learners
Learning a new language can be nerve-wracking, especially for young learners who experience a great deal of peer pressure and fear of sounding unintelligent in front of their classmates. This fear is something adults learning a new language experience as well. I have personally experienced it as a native English speaker learning Spanish. Therefore, praise from the teacher they view as an expert in the language they’re learning is vital to the learning process in many ways.

Role of the Teacher
Teachers try to make their lessons easy to understand. Teachers might use a chalkboard, a projector, or a computer. They make posters or worksheets before class starts. Teachers plan the schedule for the day. Most teachers have to teach what the principal tells them.
Teachers also assign homework and class projects. They often have students work together to do projects. When students are not doing as well... [Read more]

Which Option is the Most Favorable for an ESL/EFL Teacher?
The very moment I started thinking about the TEFL/TESOL course, many options came up in my mind that’s an online TEFL course or on-site course. Another thought I had in mind was after completing the course should I teach English in a classroom or online? Although both options have pros and cons, there are several distinct differences between teaching English in a classroom and teaching online. While undergoing my TEFL/TESOL 120-hour course with ITTT, considering both options, I think classroom teaching will be suitable and important to my lifestyle. There’re factors which I took into consideration which are listed below:

The Difference In Teaching ESL vs. EFL
There are many similarities, but also many differences, in teaching English as a foreign language and teaching English as a second language. Teaching English as a foreign language is when you teach English in a country that does not have English as an official language. Teaching English as a second language is when you teach English to someone who speaks another language as their first language, normally in a country where English is the official language. I have taught both English as a foreign language (EFL) and English as a second language (ESL) and these two experiences had quite a few similarities and quite a few differences.

Lesson Planning for Structured ESL Classes
The lesson plan is a structure of the course that you will give to your students, a clear guide as to what you want to achieve and how you are going to do it. A good lesson plan generally consists of learner objectives, personal aims, language points, procedure, phase, and interaction, etc. It is of great importance because it can help teachers to have confidence in class, make the class go more smoothly and help to improve the course.

How to Motivate High School Students in the ESL Classroom
Motivation in the classroom is the biggest reason why I teach students in a high school setting. I am a public-school teacher and I get English as a Second Language students all the time in my classroom. I am a 10th-grade teacher but my students' ages range from 14 years old to 19 years old. The number one factor that I teach is for motivation. My students are already matured and have seen things they probably should not have at their ages. Once they get to my classroom, they are mine to teach. I do my utmost best to teach my students. The Basic Difference
ESL refers to teaching English as a Second Language in a English-speaking country where the student's native language is not English, while EFL refers to teaching English as a Foreign Language in a country where English is not the primary language.
