Tolerance and Cultural Sensitivity in The Classroom
Since one of the essentials of being a good teacher is being respected by your students, it’s very important to make sure one does not offend culturally by one’s behavior or the content of the lessons. Lessons should be fun and at times feel “free†in the sense that students are laughing and interacting with each other and with the teacher perhaps in a game, but at no point should boundaries be crossed that would make students uncomfortable or put them in a defensive posture.

Activities Accompanying Storytelling
Storytelling in the classroom can seemingly be one of the most diverse and engaging ways to help students learn English as a second language. Storytelling for the purposes of this essay is a broad term that I am using to refer not only to students telling stories about what they did on the weekend for example but also using existing stories that are well known and loved, for example, Harry Potter or the Lion King.

Firstly, classroom activities using storytelling when centered around the students are a great way for students to get to know one another.
Further, students can be encouraged to go and explore and to create their own stories.

Is Taking a TEFL/TESOL Course Really Worth it?
TEFL and TESOL - these two terms are often used interchangeably; however, some areas of the world prefer to use one or the other. For example, the TEFL term is most commonly used within the UK, and the TESOL term is usually preferred in the USA. Although some countries may prefer one acronym over the other, a TEFL certification and a TESOL certification are practically the same thing, and the training programs for both are usually identical.

Abilities such as grammar, reading, listening, and conversation skills are put to the test, all of them supervised by a teacher whom a conversation can be established. While slang and idioms may not be essential to clear communication, especially when their meanings are very different from their packaging, they do communicate something more subtle: ‘I’m trying to observe the nuances of your language to better connect with you’. Slang lets you come across as casual, intimidating, clever, or whimsical in ways that straightforward language can’t.
