Teaching ESL Classes vs. EFL Classes
Programs in English as a second language (ESL) generally take place in countries where English is the dominant or official language. People participating in an ESL program likely immigrated to an English-speaking country from a non-English speaking county and so are learning English as a language to be used in their everyday lives. In contrast, programs in English as a foreign language (EFL) generally take place in countries where English is not the official or dominant language. People participating in an EFL program are likely still in their home country and may or may not ever use English outside of the EFL classroom. Parent Intervention is Essential for the Success of Education
As a child, my mother dropped me off at school every morning before she goes to work. I would go throughout my day at school and stay in the after school programs until my mother picked me up late in the afternoon. Like many other single mothers, my mother had to work a lot like to support the family. I grew up going to school and doing my homework to the best of my abilities without the extra encouragement from a parent. My mother would ask if I did my schoolwork and I would tell her that it was done at school. Since she was very busy working she trusted in the school to do their job in educating me and she trusted me to do my part in my education.

Japan can be a challenging but rewarding country to work in, despite stereotypes of Japanese people being polite and studious so it is important to consider that reality can be different when teaching in Japan.
