'What language will my daughter learn first?' Was one of the questions that haunted me and I thought it would be the greatest challenge of motherhood. Well, the reality proved me wrong – it was the easiest task and now my daughter can speak perfect English, she can understand and speak Romanian very well and she understands Chinese and can speak when she has to.

Why English as a Global Language is Crucial to International Education
English language learning plays a big role in international education, and globalization has pushed English to evolve into a global language (Crystal, 2003). In his book, English as a Global Language, Crystal acknowledges that while multilingualism remains a critical world resource, he argues that a common language is still necessary. In an increasingly interconnected world, a global language connects nations and individuals on an international field. International education serves to promote global awareness and engagement, international understanding, respect for differences, and commitment to peace (Tate, 2013). English as a global language is necessary to... [Read more]

When I was a child, my dad wanted me to become a teacher. He thought that becoming a teacher was a great job. Not just him, but many other people also thought so. It has always been like that. Back then, I was too young to understand the reason. But now that I have become a teacher, I am starting to realize why my dad and everyone else liked it.

The Importance of Sharing Responsibilities in the Management of the Classroom
Oftentimes in a classroom, the burden of managing a classroom is assumed to fall squarely on the shoulders of the teacher. The teacher is viewed as the source of knowledge through which students can learn and it is thus the responsibility of the teacher to share this knowledge in a manner that is both appealing, digestible, and feasible. Teachers may find themselves viewing students as potential obstacles to this role, as they must find a way to coax students into learning and taking part without disrupting a lesson.

There are many different words and phrases that are used in specific types of situations and there is only so much role-playing and slide-show presenting you can do in the classroom. Sometimes taking the lesson outside is the best way to teach your students how certain words and phrases are used in particular scenarios.
