How Teaching Privately Differs from Teaching a Whole Class? - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
In recent years, more and more English learners demand one-to-one lessons. Students feel that the course can be more specifically geared towards their own needs and wants than a group course could. Individual lessons have no mixed level, teachers could highly motivate the students, the requirements can be clearly defined. And teachers are easier and faster to get close to the students.
There are some teaching methods below for one-to-one lessons:

Teaching a Large Class: My Challenging Experience - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
Back in 2014, I worked at a nursery school here in South Africa. I was the English teacher for the three to four-year-olds at this school. There were 32 students in my class. My class was so small that during nap time two students had to sleep on one mattress. There was no space to leave the class once the children had fallen asleep. I had to make sure that all my belongings were out of the class once the students came in for their naptime or I had to leave whatever was forgotten behind once I was one my way to my next job. In unit 3 on page 21, they talk about the whole class grouping pros and cons and that is really explained well where they say "class grouping is suitable for activities where the teacher needs to be in control" or "have the... Why Drilling is a Common Teaching Method in an ESL Class - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Drilling is a teaching method used by teachers, teaching languages or other subjects, all over the world. Generally, drilling involves the teacher saying or modeling something to the class and the students repeating it. There are many ways of using the drilling method. Some teachers may use it sparingly in class while others may use the method so often it becomes the main way their students acquire new information.

Managing a Class as a Foreign EFL Teacher - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
When it comes to managing a class, a teacher must be prepared to face many different challenges. This can be especially true for a teacher in classrooms abroad. In addition to teaching a subject, a foreign teacher may also have to worry about the cultural or social norms of a country they may be unaccustomed to, and other problems might arise from language barriers. An EFL teacher can better manage a classroom if they prepare for these in advance, and utilize the appropriate behaviors and routines while running the classroom.

How to Troubleshoot in a TEFL Class? - TEFL Blog

As with most situations in life, a teacher will run into a set of particular difficulties in the course of his/her career. Unruly students, elusive questions, challenges with the composition of the class in terms of level or age, difficulties adapting course books to the needs of the class, etc. It is up to the experienced teacher to decipher these situations and to see which possible fix to apply to them. It is imperative that a teacher sees the situations for what they are and not for what they should be. In essence, the best course of action is to strike a balance between the class' needs and the individual student's needs.
