A good source of material for your classroom can come from local English language newspapers. These will contain stories about local events in English and are good way to get students using English and to keep your lessons relevant to current events. Many newspapers have sections devoted to learning English and sometime republish articles specifically for language learners.
Magazines are good source of pictures to use in your classroom and can also be used for interesting articles and debate topics. Another use is with reluctant students, especially in one-on-one classes, where bringing in a magazine on a topic they are interested can encourage them to open up and start using English without even realising it.

As with any subject, a student's motivation can affect their interest in the subject matter. English is no different, in fact, I believe that motivation is the key difference in students who continue to progress and improve in English and those who don't and discontinue English in their future. Now, this is not to say that all students with low motivation do not pick up any English through their learning, nor does it mean that a student with motivation will find English learning to be easy. However, I believe that motivation plays a key role in ensuring that a student remains engaged with the English language and eventually progresses into fluency. I wouldd like to present ideas that can add to student's motivation and improve their English learning... [Read more]

How to Choose Songs for Your ESL Lessons - TEFL Blog

Teaching Ideas
Even for people who are unable to carry a tune, singing is something that most would probably enjoy. There is a bit of embarrassment to overcome for many people, especially youths, but with a classroom full of people all singing together, the embarrassment factor is lowered. With that in mind, I would say that singing song in the language that a student is learning help keep vocabulary and grammar in their mind. It creates an upbeat and happy mood (depending on the song), and this activity could even be used for a class performance.
