5 Important Things When Teaching Beginner Students
I am an English teacher. I am teaching beginner students who are aged from 3 years and a half to 8 years old. My students are very young learners who normally have shorter attention spans, and have not even completely mastered their mother tongue. They are generally amenable to fun games, singing, and drawing. For my students, they start from zero knowledge of English to a very basic knowledge that cannot be quickly or easily activated, but with these levels, success is easy to see and usually good fun.

The Most Effective Teaching Methodologies for Online ESL Teaching Mode
For the last two years, I have worked as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) at a Japanese high school. Along with my teaching job, I have volunteered at a weekly English conversation class, where I teach English to both children and adults. Next year, I plan to transition out of my ALT job and into private ESL teaching. It is most likely that I will do most of my teaching online, where I will be one-on-one with a student.

Best Methodology for EFL Teaching
Teaching English to foreign-speaking students comes with much responsibility, creativity, patience, and kindness. On the opposite end, learning another language is challenging, requires practice and can be frustrating. To make the teaching and learning exchange seamless there are a variety of lesson structures and independent/ group activities available for teachers to implement into classrooms. Although many methods can be used, grammar, vocabulary, reading, listening, writing, and speaking are all important structures taken into consideration as learning the language comfortably and fluently is always the end goal. Throughout this summative task, different methodologies will be paired and... [Read more]

The Relevance of Teaching Methodologies in Real Practice
A method of teaching contains the techniques used by teachers to impart knowledge to students. These strategies are determined partly on the subjects to be taught and partly by the nature of the learner. In this task, I will give some examples of different teaching methodologies, compare these techniques, and explain why it is important that teachers, mostly who are teaching in a foreign country should know these methods.

For this task, I have selected the course structure. As a teacher, a lot goes into the daily operation of the classroom. However, one very important facet of teaching is lesson design and teaching students appropriate standards to help them in their English acquisition.

Why ESA is Still the Most Effective Methodology in the English Language Classroom - TEFL Blog

Why ESA is Still the Most Effective Methodology in the English Language Classroom
Throughout my ITTT TEFL course a specific teaching concept persisted, entitled "ESA". This methodology has been proven over several years to be effective in teaching English to students in the classroom. A precursor to this concept was "PPP" (Presentation, Practice, Production) which has been used by many teachers, though it lacks in engaging the students resulting in a less successful environment. Jeremy Harmer noticed this and in turn put forth a new and improved model, labeled "ESA", consisting of three steps; Engage, Study, and Activate. This methodology has continued to remain relevant to this day through its flexible and fluid approach to teaching... [Read more]
How do Business English Learners Differentiate From Other Learners? - TEFL Blog

How do Business English Learners Differentiate From Other Learners?
Firstly, the major difference between Business English learners and other learners is that they are by default adults, which means that you are dealing with people who have a higher degree of maturity, come to learn out of choice vs. being told they must, and have greater attention spans, which means that as a teacher the materials I put together and the challenges I set out for my students must reflect their current reality. Because they are adults and are most probably working a full-time job and coming to learn English in the early morning and evenings, they may be preoccupied with adult issues at home, they may have been out of the educational classroom... Several Why’s to Complete a TEFL Course
In today's world, the English language has grown significantly to be a global language. This is because governments from the Eastern and Western hemispheres collaborate from time to time, business transactions are made across the globe and many students wish to travel to English speaking countries to immerse themselves in the culture. Therefore, persons are more interested in learning English in their home countries to better facilitate communication with those in the Western world. Thus, the demand has increased for English teachers. However, it is not enough for a native English speaker to say that he/she wants to teach English as a Foreign language without being TEFL certified. One should... [Read more]

The ESA Method to Facilitate Student Learning Needs
Every fresh teacher, once starting his or her career, has this question: how should I teach English? What is the best way to organize my classes to make sure students would not be bored and learn something? And how to keep them motivated and enjoy every lesson? I did have all these questions at the beginning of my teaching career, and by trials and errors, I found the approach this TEFL course is based on – ESA.

Business English means different things to different people.
For some, it applies only to specific vocabulary and topics used in the worlds of business, trade, finance, and/or any other specific business fields (i.e. medical/nautical/Marketing/Management/Human Resources/Tourism and so on?).
For others it refers to the communication skills used in the workplace, and focuses on the language and skills needed for common business... [Read more]
