Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

In this unit I have learnt the value of different tests ie the diagnostic test at the start of the course to establish what the students do and don't know/are capable of with regards to the English language, the placement test to enable teachers to put students in the right groups, progress tests to see what is being retained by the students etc. I have also learnt about external exams ie the Cambridge assessment. It didn't occur to me that writing would be neglected when teaching a new language. I do realize that this is true, especially among older / adult learners as their motivation for learning a new language would generally be to communicate for work. E.g. conference calls etc. It would be good that for a 4 hours class, 1 hour be dedicated to concentrate on writing, or to motivate students to complete their homework.
