The main reason for English becoming the most spoken language could be the simplicity of the language. English is a very effective language, that it is proved by the many native and non-native speakers all over the world. English has been introduced in the field of business for many years. Also, English is a language that is been used in films, music, television, and in a lot of more technological features like the Internet.
A big amount of population of the world watches Hollywood’s movies. This expansion also led to an increase in popularity of the English language. Moreover, English has enabled a common communication means between people of different backgrounds. Challenges For Learners
English can be also very difficult, especially for non-native speakers. There are words written in one way and then read in another way, which can be very confusing. Furthermore, difficulties appear in different areas in the world, as the pronunciation and the accent is not everywhere the same, making it difficult for persons who speak English as a second language. For example in England, Wales and Scotland they all speak English, but for a nonnative English speaker, it can be very difficult to understand the different accents.
Since the English language is so widely spoken, many people believe is vital to learn as a second language. People seem to have made the right decision, as it is spoken in a wide geographical area.
