What is The Difference Between Teaching ESL and EFL? - TEFL Blog

Tue, 02 Jun 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences What is The Difference Between Teaching ESL and EFL? While English is a popular language used globally, people learn and use the language differently, a feature that informs the techniques employed in teaching the language. A Chinese immigrant living in the United States with his parents, for example, will learn English as a Second Language (ESL). Such a learner would learn in an environment where English is the primary language for interaction. The case is different with a French boy learning English in a school in Paris. The boy in this context learns English but is likely to continue using his French mother tongue while out of class. As such, he learns English as a Foreign Language (EFL). The two learners in this hypothetical...  [Read more]

How Do We Teach English as a Second Language or English as a Foreign Language? - TEFL Blog

Wed, 26 Aug 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas How Do We Teach English as a Second Language or English as a Foreign Language? Language as a second language or as a foreign language consists of classroom course material and student-teacher components that require a certain educational environment to be taught. Language acquisition starts from early childhood to the critical age of 13 years. Born into a natural language environment, the child begins to process the language pragmatically thanks to its sound, environment, and natural language skills. The History of The ESA Approach - TEFL Blog

Tue, 14 Apr 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas The History of The ESA Approach My first exposure to learning a foreign language was back in the 1950s watching French lessons on the National Education Network, the predecessor of PBS. The only thing I can remember from the experience was the word Ecoute, listen, which I did little of. Latin classes in Junior High, followed by Spanish courses in High School and College did little to help me as an adult. The teaching methods used were both classical, grammar-translation and Audio- bilingualism, both tried and true relics of the past, and in some cases the present. Table of Contents What is ESA? How to teach TEFL online - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ TEFL FAQs

How to teach TEFL online One area within the English teaching (ESL) market that has increased dramatically over recent years is that of teaching English online. Although many of the ideas used in traditional classroom teaching are transferable to online teaching, there are some specifics you should be aware of before embarking on this method of teaching. What does teaching English online mean? Usually the teaching of English (ESL) takes place in a school or language center. Students attend the location and have regular lessons from their teachers. However, there has always been a need, in very remote locations for example, for teaching to be done in one area and delivered to another. The advent of the world-wide-web and connectivity through phones, computers and the like has greatly...  [Read more]
