On the other hand, external tests are (usually) held by third party organizations in which school itself has no participation. Only the latter ones provide internationally recognized language certificates.

Plan a reward system with 4 to 6 rewards and give one to the student periodically throughout the class when they have done a good job. You can use this to reinforce good behavior and to encourage the student to try harder so that they get more rewards. All of my reward systems rely on a whiteboard the students can see.
