Approaches to Teaching English Vocabulary to ESL Students
Learning new vocabulary is considered as an integral part of learning a new language. Even children who learn their mother tongues learn isolated phrases and words before making complex sentences. Similarly, in second language learning, teaching new words and phrases plays an important role in helping learners' communication. Based on David Wilkins "without grammar very little can be conveyed, without vocabulary nothing can be conveyed". If learners spend their time on learning grammar, their English will not improve greatly. However, if they learn more words, phrases, and expressions, they can express almost anything (Thornberry, 2002; Watkin, 2005).

Top 10 ESL Activities for Older English Learners
From my experience, when you deal with older ESL learners, you have to take into account the fact that they do not want to look bad while practicing their English skills. Actually, activities and exercises should make them feel at ease and confident in their learning, as well as satisfied with the goals achieved so far. It goes without saying that the teaching techniques that include a direct confrontation between an adult student and the teacher or a classmate as a judge of their performance should be avoided so as not to make them feel uncomfortable. Here are a few ideas for you to try.

3 Main Difficulties for English Learners in Turkey
Turkey, being famous for its fast-growing economy, fulfilling the educational needs of most of the people around the globe has been my residence for the past three years. As an ELT professional, I have the privilege of teaching English in various educational institutions in the country. During my tenure in those institutes, I came upon various reasons as to why students are having difficulty in learning English. I devised various solutions by adding in more activities and solving the complications from the grass-root level.

I have been teaching for about 10 years now to different age groups, especially adults, in a country area in the north of Italy. I also worked as a language translator in a local company for 9 years. I adore everything that revolves around the English language and I’m proud of my ITTT TESOL certification as well as of my other qualifications and degrees. Tips on Teaching Reading to EFL Students One-to-One
Reading is one of the two receptive language skills that might seem easier to teach. When learning to read in a foreign language, a student doesn't have to deal with accents or pronunciation problems, as it often happens with speaking and listening. What's more, learning reading skills does not necessarily imply high teacher participation and can generally be done independently. Much as with writing, it might seem tempting to relegate most of reading to homework, especially in one-to-one teaching. The easier way isn't always the best one, and paying enough attention to this aspect of English during one's lessons offers many benefits.

How TEFL Teacher Impacts ESL Students' Life
Everyone can remember the different ways teachers impacted their life, whether good or bad. In modern-day society, a teacher's role in education extends beyond just 'educating' and 'passing along the information to students, with teachers adopting myriad roles in the classroom setting and the students' personal life. Beyond educating, teachers can mentor students, be positive role models, encourage social inclusion, nurture student's development and interests, create a safe and welcoming environment for students, and look for signs of trouble. This essay will discuss the myriad roles teachers play in contemporary classroom contexts and the benefits of... [Read more]

British or American English: ✅ What Variant is More Beneficial to Learn
One of the greatest and most spoken about topics I have come across, both in the English language classroom and in general conversation with people from all walks of life, is the use of US English and British English, and which of the two is more ''correct'' or ''better'' to learn, or even what sounds nicer to the ear. This is a controversial topic because the ideas surrounding these questions will be more favorable to one use or the other, depending on the influences both English types have in the country the student is studying in. Another factor that will affect opinions and thoughts on the subject is the personal history... [Read more]

Why Reading is a Skill to Teach in ESL Education
Readers are for sure leaders, not just merely for the fact of reading, but for the thinking process that comes with reading. As an individual, I love reading. I love the smell of the book paper. The tiny letters and turning another page is something that I enjoy deeply. However, I didn't become an avid reader by chance. I become a reader because I was born in a family where reading was a natural thing. My father was a university professor and was reading all the time. My mother, an accounting expert, used to read laws and regulations to ensure that her work is respecting the law.

Alumnus Experience: ✅ Teaching in Saudi Arabia
Depending on which part of the world you are in, more often than not, you will find that majority of your learners, especially the younger ones, tend to be very tech-savvy nowadays. This is especially true in a Prep-Year setting in Saudi Arabia, where I'm currently based. When I speak about a Prep-Year location, I refer to young adults between the ages of 18-20 who have just finished high school and must complete a year of English language studies to begin their major.

Breaking The Language Barrier in ESL Students
We live in an ever-changing world that is becoming smaller, more connected. Communication is faster and more diverse than ever. Computers, cell phones, and social media have increased the speed of communication. Therefore, the need for people to respond quickly and the language that has become synonymous with international communication is English. Thus, the demand for learning the language is increasing at a constant rate. But though people may have the need, they may lack the confidence to take on a new language fully.

Motivation Value in TEFL Teaching
Motivation is the act of giving a reason or reason to carry out a task and or function. In today's society schools are becoming more and more diverse and as such it provides teachers and students an extra task to try and learn about individuals in their surroundings. As we all know, a student's background plays a role in the student's receptive and productive skills. Hence the reason for building rapport with students. Not all students are self-motivated, so teachers need to motivate them and encourage them to develop self-motivation. Motivating students is essential as it promotes learning, growth and self-development, and truancy reduction in schools.

The Most Common Obstacles in ESL for English Learners From Spain
First of all, nearly all the statistics and reality observation show that English in Spain is low. The problem is a set of factors whose central aspect lies in the oral part. People in Spain are not accustomed to watching movies or watching television in English due to language dubbing in all original version media. The result is what it is: that the Spanish are at the tail of Europe in the domain of foreign languages. As a result, children do not get used to the English language from an early age, and as we know, the acquisition of a new language is better sooner than later in life. When you teach English in Spain, it starts from a... [Read more]
