Why Teaching Business English Isn’t As Difficult As It Seems - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
As a former teacher of English as a foreign language, I have some experience teaching business English. Majority of my classes were for general English conversation. However, as I continued teaching, my workload increased to include a few business-focused classes. At first, I was intimidated and nervous about teaching these students. Did I have enough knowledge about business to teach them? Would I have the information they needed? After a lot of preparation and a few lessons, I realized that business classes are not much different than regular English classes and I need not know much about business to be a successful business English teacher.

Language as a second language or as a foreign language consists of classroom course material and student-teacher components that require a certain educational environment to be taught. Language acquisition starts from early childhood to the critical age of 13 years. Born into a natural language environment, the child begins to process the language pragmatically thanks to its sound, environment, and natural language skills.

A book is an important source of knowledge and "knowledge is power". There is no doubt that reading is beneficial to everyone. Shakespeare said, "Book is the nourishment of the world, life without books, as if the earth without sunshine; wisdom without books, just as birds without winds". Reading builds a good foundation to improve both speaking and writing skills since the more we read the more vocabulary we have available for us to use when we speak or write. This way we could better express our thoughts. Also, the more we read, the broader our knowledge base, and thus the more resources we have when we are dealing with problems. Francis Bacon said, "Reading gives a person with pleasure, give a person with light, give a person with the ability",... [Read more]
Motivation in Class as it is - TEFL Blog

Teaching Ideas
According to the Cambridge dictionary, motivation is the need or reason for doing something. Motivation is a way to get somebody to complete something that they might not aspire to execute on his or her own. Teachers have been using different forms of motivation in the classroom for years, which has been positive and negative. My parents used to tell me stories about their school time when the teachers would smack their hands with rulers if they didn't do their homework. They would also use the same rulers to smack the students' buttocks when they were misbehaving. When I was in school our motivation to perform satisfactorily in the class was to get decent grades.
