How to Travel Japan on a Teacher’s Budget - TEFL Blog
Lydia Pincott
Destinations Alumni Experiences
For being a fairly small country, Japan sure packs a punch for the endless amount of things to see, do, and eat! As teachers though, we aren't living that high roller, bullet train life, yet we usually have enough days off for a decent holiday. So how do you get out and see Japan, while still having a few yennies left over for fried chicken at Family Mart?
Use the Seishun 18 Kippu Transport Pass (and region-specific passes)
Make Use of Tourist Information Centers
Stay at hostels with kitchens - but be sure to check the facilities!
Be loyal - to bus service, booking website, etc.
Choose the lowest cost option on Google Maps for getting around.

Teaching Ideas
When teaching English lessons, a teacher will more than likely find themselves in the position of teaching a class with only one student. It is for this reason that it is useful to consider the ways in which a teacher needs to adapt their lessons to be suitable for one to one teaching. It is also useful to consider the advantages and disadvantages of such classes in order for the teacher to be better prepared for any issues that may arise.

Teachers are no different from anyone else when it comes to feeling nervous about embarking on a new venture. Whether it's an inexperienced teacher walking into his/her first classroom, an experienced teacher to teach English to foreign students in a foreign country, or a person walking onto a stage to address an audience of his/her peers for the first time; they are out of their comfort zone, moving into a place that they've never been to before, not knowing what to expect or exactly what will happen. There is a churning feeling in the pit of their stomachs and an almost overwhelming fear of failure. The most seasoned of professionals will tell you that this nervousness never goes away completely, it just diminishes over time.

How do I apply for a student visa to legally teach English in Europe? - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ TEFL FAQs
For non-EU citizens who want to teach English in Europe it can be a frustrating experience when it comes to getting a work visa. Due to this frustration, many teachers decide to work with only their initial tourist visa in their passport. Although this is technically illegal, it is a widespread practice in some of the most popular destinations such as France, Italy and Spain, and it rarely causes any problems. However, if this approach does not appeal to you, a student visa might be the answer.
