Role of the Teacher: Jack of All Trades
The one thing l liked most about teaching was the many jackets one gets to wear. To some l was a fashion icon, to others a role model, to others someone they could easily go to and talk about their life and personal challenges. Hence, the code of conduct for teachers stretches even to their communities and homes. Their mere being impacts the lives of the country's generations and helps build a nation, academically and socially.

The Principles of Teaching ESL in Waldorf Elementary School
The first Waldorf School was founded in 1919 in Stuttgart for the children of the workers in the Waldorf Astoria cigarette factory. The school's doors were open for all the children regardless of their social status. It was the end of World War I and because of post-war chaos, people were looking for new educational systems. In such an environment, it was not difficult for Waldorf pedagogy to find its place among other reform movements. Today there are more than 1000 Waldorf schools all around the world.

Over the years of teaching, I have had the experience to work with many teachers from all over the world. I have worked with teachers in music, English, art, and other fields in education. Because of this, I have been exposed to different types of teaching styles used in the educational field. There have been styles that are excellent in delivering a lesson that students learn and understand. I have also seen teaching styles that are not the best and it has left many students confused and in the disarray of the lesson they just sat through. Through the level of experience I have been exposed to I concluded that it is highly important that teachers study and continue to learn... [Read more]

How to Utilize the Difference Between One-to-One and Group Teaching
Earning a TEFL certificate has the potential to lead a new teacher down a number of paths where the only uniform outcome is the title "English Teacher". A new teacher could find themselves in a number of situations varying in the nationality and age of the student, as well as level or desired specialization over the course of their career. It is of great importance, therefore, for teachers to be comfortable and confident with this open-ended outcome in order to better plan and prepare for helping their future students, whoever or wherever they may be. An area I find particularly interesting based on my current experience is the dynamic between one-to-one and group... [Read more]

ESL and 10 Common Preschool Themes
Preschool curriculum or lesson plan designed for English language learners should incorporate several basic and common themes. Those popular themes created for young learners will introduce students to new, interesting vocabulary words and phrases. Learning about animals, clothing, food, family, shapes, colors, numbers, or daily activities makes students deeply engaged in learning. They are discovering the world around them versus memorizing/repeating abstract words and phrases. Thanks to such theme-based lessons, English language students genuinely engage with the content being taught and make real-life connections while developing new vocabulary and enhanced... [Read more]

While most people can only dream about a fleeting trip to Hanoi – if they’re lucky – ‘living like a local’ and working as EFL teacher in this magnificent city is a realistic proposition for anyone with a sense of adventure.
Hanoi is Vietnam’s capital city and the seat of government. It’s noticeably smaller than Ho Chi Minh City in the south, but the pace of life is similarly frenetic. While Ho Chi Minh City is often referred to as Vietnam’s ‘engine room’, Hanoi is more of a ‘grand old lady’.
