Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Evaluations and tests are useful to determine a student's language level and proficiency. There are many types of test, each with different goals, for instance placement test to determine a student's language level, progress test to determine student progress, practice test to prepare for external exams and so on. Test are important as teachers need to know their student's progression and adapt the lesson accordingly if necessary. This unit is all about pronunciation and phonology. It covered intonations, stress, sound joining, linked speech, the phonetic alphabet, phonetic symbols, articulation, when and how to teach pronunciation. This unit proved to be difficult to grasp as I have never studied phonetic alphabet and symbols but it proved useful as I learned more about the language as well. This has managed to increase my knowledge of the English Language.
