Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
In this unit I learnt how to manage the class, including eye contact, gesture, how to group students and classroom arregement. It's important to know the pros and cons when grouping students. Also, how would be the position of the teacher, stading or seating. We can avoid turn the back to students using overhead projector, prepare cards with vocabulary and write on the board while students are involved in other activities.This Unit has dealt with basic grammar and the parts of speech of a sentence: nouns, adjectives, verbs, pronouns, articles, adverbs, gerunds, prepositions and conjunctions. This is not the first time I look into these grammatical features so nothing new was introduced. However, it reinforced my knowledge. It also gave me some tips on how to express myself in these situations and made me think on how I should teach grammar.
