The primary role of the Middle School Director of Teaching and Learning will be to monitor, evaluate, and ensure the quality of teaching and learning at HQ Campus. The DTL will serve in a leadership position on the Campus Leadership Team (CLT) and the key contact person for government-related teaching and learning requirements.

Main Job Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Middle School Deputy Principal (Academics) to monitor and evaluate campus teaching and learning quality through formal and informal classroom observations aligned to Pao Teaching Standards; 3. Work closely with the Middle School Deputy Principal (Academics) to administer yearly target setting, staff development plans, and a professional review system (reviewer/reviewee); 4. Work closely with the Middle School Deputy Principal (Academics) to promote high-quality teaching standards through modelling and sharing of best practices in and out of the classroom; 5. Work closely with the Middle School Deputy Principal (Academics) to facilitate campus-wide internal and external professional development programs through coordination with the other CLT members; 6. Work closely with subject teachers in English, Humanities, PHE, and Chinese departments to coach and develop them as they implement improvements in curriculum, instruction, and assessment in their classes.
Communication 1. Share and communicate educational data internal and external with relevant staff to help inform planning; 2. Supervise and ensure high quality and timely communication with parents, students, other departments, and government officials regarding Middle School Academics; 3. Support the organization and execution of parents’ academic-related events and communication as well as contribute to weekly circular communication as required.

-Our primary department is from Primary 1 to Primary 6. Primary teachers are with students for homeroom and core subjects, up to twenty periods a week. A maximum class size of 25 students allows teachers time to develop genuine relationships with their students. Our curriculum draws from several sources and is always being refined.

-Teachers have 36 working hours per week, which is comprised of up to twenty 45-minute teaching periods, various responsibilities, and some planning time.
-There are about 30 days of Macau and school holidays throughout the year which includes both Winter and Chinese Spring Festival breaks, plus about 50 days of summer holidays. Monthly working Saturdays—which often foster community engagement and extension activities—allow us to lengthen our holidays while still meeting contact day requirements.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
-The annual base salary, including housing allowance, is approximately US$44,000, after tax, and is slightly increased based on years of experience. Roles and Responsibilities
Instructional Preparation: As possible, the associate teacher attends weekly planning meetings and contributes ideas. The associate teacher helps organise and prepare materials for instruction, as directed by the lead teacher. This includes making photocopies, gathering materials, setting up classroom centers for learning, etc.
Instructional Delivery: Under the guidance of the lead teacher, the associate teacher will facilitate small group instruction and support individual students. Learning goals, lesson objectives and plans will be designed by the lead teacher for any instruction delivered by the associate teacher. At times, an associate teacher may be asked to facilitate whole-class learning experiences, as provided by the lead teacher.
Assessment of/for Learning: The associate teacher helps the lead teacher gather and analyse data to measure student progress and provide timely feedback to students. Associate teachers are asked to contribute their thoughts/perspectives about students to lead teachers, and may participate in parent meetings to support the lead teacher’s observations and/or concerns.
Behaviour Management: The associate teacher will actively supervise students at lunch, patio, and classroom times, and will assist students in transitions to/from specialists’ classrooms, lunch and patio, buses, etc. Using a positive discipline and Responsive Classroom approach, student behavior will be addressed through teaching, reteaching, and redirection in positive ways. Child protection and safeguarding will be at the forefront of all decisions and actions.
Learning Environment: The associate teacher considers the environment the “Third Teacher”, and, in coordination with the lead teacher, supports this belief with resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe and organised student-centered experience.
Professionalism: The associate teacher maintains a commitment to professional ethics, international mindedness, and the school’s mission; and takes responsibility for and participates in professional goal-setting and growth that results in the enhancement of student learning. The associate teacher possesses the ability to work well independently and as part of a team, and can adapt to change in a fast-paced environment.
