First all, by knowing English as a second language, a candidate could have an advantage over another equally skilled one who speaks only their native language because learning English demonstrates he/she is dedicated to self-improvement - a valued asset in any employee. There are some professions in which knowledge of English is even far more significant than this; where, if a candidate does not speak fluent English, the chance of being hired drastically reduced.
