Motivation can be seen as the reason or reasons for acting or behaving in a certain way. Many people in the world today battle to find the motivation they need to achieve their goals, be it in the business sector, schools, or even in their day to day activities.
Motivation is the driving force towards reaching your goal.
For a class to learn effectively, the teacher must be able to ignite confidence in them.
Using lots of examples during a lesson and also connecting them to real-life can spark interest in the students.

Why Learning Grammar is Essential - TEFL Blog
Linda Dunsmore
Alumni Experiences
Some may conclude that the correct usage of English grammar only matters to teachers and have no real relevance in day to day life. We have to conclude that this is incorrect because grammar, disregarding the country or the language, is the infrastructure of communication. For instance, in the simplest of examples, when a message is delivered with the correct usage of grammar, it is much more understandable and precise to comprehend the intent and meaning of that message.

Why is Classroom Discipline Important? - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences Teaching Ideas
As a teacher you are in charge of a classroom of children, it can be relatively hard to meet all students needs and maintain control. A lot of teachers develop alternative ways to manage students. This can be by establishing classroom rules right from the start and to maintain these rules right throughout the year. Popular discipline techniques are positive discipline, these techniques use positive reinforcement to encourage students to behave, this is a much better way, rather than negative reinforcement, with punishment and humiliation. The teachers turn to problem-solving and then use classroom discussions, so opinions are heard and self-awareness which resolves the problem or issues at hand.

Why Learning Grammar is Important? - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Language is a medium of communication that helps to express our feelings, desires, and queries to the world around us. The ability to use language distinguishes humans from other animals and when we know a language, we can speak and be understood by others who know that language. Effective communication requires an understanding and recognition of the connection between a language and the people who use it. The ability to use a language requires profound knowledge that most speakers don't know that they know. Language is considered to be an infinite set of well-formulated sentences and it can be deduced by the grammar. Hence grammars are the theories of language composed of hypotheses of the structure of some part of the language. In Layman's terms,... [Read more]
Why Classroom Management is Important - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Teaching Ideas
Classroom management is one of the most important aspects of teaching. This is because students need a learning-friendly environment to feel safe, which makes the students more willing to actively participate and learn. This learning-friendly environment can be achieved in many ways such as, how the teacher gives instructions, maintains discipline, establishes rapport, arranges the classroom, groups students together, the way they talk to the students, and so on. I am only going to touch on a few of these topics that I think are the most important in managing a classroom.

Why Is Observed Teaching Practice Invaluable? - TEFL Blog

Some English training centers will require newly hired teachers to observe classes for a certain period of time. During said time, the new hire can become familiar with the general culture and atmosphere of the institutions learning environment. The new teacher can then also learn the rules of the classroom that students are expected to follow. In some cases, the observed teacher may sometimes include the new hire in activities so that the students begin to feel more comfortable with the newly hired teacher. During this period of observation, the teacher can start to establish rapport with students not only inside the classroom but also in passing outside the classroom. Why English is Unique Linguistically and Geographically - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
English, like any language, is first and foremost the mother tongue of a person. Languages often are influenced by or entirely derive from migratory groups of people. The original native tongue of France, for example, was Gallic. The Latinized French we know today was only born after centuries of Roman occupation and assimilation. More confusing still, the nation takes its name from the Franks, who were themselves a Germanic tribe which conquered the territory from Rome. Despite this, their native German tongue had an only minor influence on French, as Roman Gaul had a quite large population.

There are approximately 360 million native English speakers and almost twice as many speaking it as a second language, making English one of the topmost spoken languages in the world (Klappenbach, 2019). Why Learning L2 is Harder Than L1 - TEFL Blog
Elizaveta Pachina
Alumni Experiences
Over the past two years, as part of an international community, I've had the pleasure of meeting people from all over the world. We share the common experience of learning an L2. I've spoken to nearly 100 people now, and what I've learned about learning L2 is, well, it's hard.
So why is learning L2 so much harder than L1?
L2 is challenging to learn, especially for older adults.
This makes L2 very hard to use spontaneously in certain situations.
As you can see, this lack of necessity is quite damaging to L2.
Why? Maybe I just don't possess a natural ability to learn.
Our L1 learning is so gradual.
This has become very apparent to me throughout my TEFL course.

Especially in a multilingual or multicultural classroom, the students can relate to one another not only through their English knowledge but also through the fact that they like listening to music. If a song is in English, the students might not understand it.
