Why TEFL Teachers Should Work on Establishing Rapport
Establishing rapport with students is a crucial part of any successful teacher because it allows teachers to teach their students more effectively and in different ways. Rapport is defined as, "the ability to maintain harmonious relationships based on affinity...is more colloquially thought of as what happens when two people "click"—they connect, interact well, and respond to each other favorably" (Weimer, facultyfocus.com).

With the opportunity of teaching English online comes the opportunity of using items outside of the classroom. Exactly what materials can be used for teaching English online? Most importantly, online teaching requires specific equipment for enabling a quality connection to students. For the classroom, any items that can assist in teaching students the language can be used for online lessons. Using some regular classroom materials is a great option but objects found at home and online resources are extremely useful, too. The Ways Parents May Assist Students in Language Learning
Parents play an integral role in the students learning of the English language. Parents are a large part of the foundation for the support system of the learning process. The student spends the majority of their time with the parents, so the environment and tone the parents set will influence the student's ability and willingness to learn. If the home is supportive of English learning, it will aid in assisting the student in learning English more effectively then if the home or the parents was not supportive.

How Motivated Students Influence the Whole Atmosphere of the Classroom
In any classroom, for students to successfully learn to the best of their abilities, they must be motivated to do so. If a student is not motivated to learn, they will not actively engage with the lesson, they will not focus on the information presented, and they will not retain the new material. This is why motivation is so essential for each student's learning experience. A large part of achieving student motivation comes from the teacher inspiring this motivation.

Things I Wished I Knew When Teaching English as a Foreign Language in a Kindergarten
If someone asks me what I think about teaching kindergarten children as a native English teacher (NET), I would say that it is one of the happiest and most rewarding experiences that I have ever received. But, if someone asked me what I thought about teaching kindergarten children when I first started, I would have responded differently. I would say, "I can't seem to get my students' attention," or "Some of my students still have trouble learning new words." It was after a few weeks into teaching and some wonderful advice from my coworkers I realized that I had overlooked the fact that the students' age, perception, and interests play an... [Read more]

Communicative Approach to Teaching Grammar
Grammar is a very important piece of learning English. Students need grammar as it gives them a handle on the language, helps them to become reflective of the language and to build fluency. The goal of a grammar lesson is to present the grammar, help the students comprehend the main points and to move into practice, which starts as controlled practice and passes to free practice. The goal for the students is to develop fluency through the grammar structure, presenting the grammar in a meaningful context.

Why Group Seating Arrangement is Important
Most of the teachers like to arrange the seating arrangement. The aim is the only one which is to make sure all the students focus and understand what is going on in class. Even no arrangement is perfect but yet it helps. As a teacher in a lower primary in one of the international schools in Indonesia, I do like to arrange my students' seats. With English as a daily basis language and students are from different Asia countries with mixed language ability, the seating arrangement is one of the keys.

Is Lesson Planning Worthwhile?
Lesson planning is a frequently used tool by teachers to provide a lesson's direction, aim, activity outline and a record of the material taught. It tends to be a very individual exercise with some teachers preferring to do little planning and others preferring to plan thoroughly. Factors that might impact on this preference are likely to be a teacher's level of experience and also possibly the school's requirement for a teacher to follow a set syllabus.

Three Strategies For Teachers to Work on Confidence
One of the most important traits a teacher can bring into the classroom is confidence. According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Confidence is "a feeling or consciousness of one's powers or reliance on one's circumstances" and " faith or belief that one will act in a right, the proper, or efficient way". When a teacher is confident in the classroom it will help create a more relaxed and trusting environment.
