The Importance of Grammar Instruction in EFL Classes
Grammar is the fundamental regulation that governs proper spoken and written language, holding a significant place in language institutions and schools. However, some argue that teaching grammar may limit learners' creativity in communication. They believe exposure to the target language will naturally foster correct grammar usage. Conversely, others contend that grammar rules help learners develop a logical approach to language. Teachers must possess grammar knowledge to provide effective instruction. Language learners aim for proficiency, defined variably but generally as accurate language use. Therefore, the question isn't whether students should... [Read more]

TEFL Review For In-class Phuket Course
This is Pam’s video testimonial after the first two weeks of her 1-month TEFL in-class course in Phuket. She learned a lot about English grammar, teaching techniques as well as phonetics. She enjoyed the non-native language classes. After several theoretical classes, the trainees were then able to prepare and teach their own lessons to local EFL students at the center in Thailand. She is excited to work on her student-profiling project as well. She highly recommends the course and is excited to complete the course soon.

Top Reasons Why You Can’t Ignore Grammar
In the realm of English language learning, whether grammar is important or to what extent grammar should be learned has been the most debatable topic. As a non-native English speaker, the questions alike once have been circling in my mind like the "To be, or not to be" soliloquy uttered by Prince Hamlet. Compare to practice speaking, listening, and memorize vocabulary, learning grammar appears to receive less emphasis. Is it true learning grammar is not that important? Of course not! When it comes to a second language or foreign language acquisition, learning grammar is extremely vital.

Reasons Why You Can’t Avoid Teaching Grammar
In a world where communication is the most important thing and language - your own or a second (even third or fourth) - grammar seems to be overlooked by people as unimportant. But is that really so? And is this true for all areas of communication? And do we only tend to say this because grammar is challenging for both teachers and learners?

How My Passion For The Spanish Language Made Me Become An English Teacher Abroad
As a native English speaker, my first major foreign language experience began in 8th grade, where I had the option of studying either Spanish or French. I chose Spanish, as I'd always been drawn to the language and Latin American culture, and hoped to one day live in a Spanish speaking country. I studied the language throughout high school, but in the years afterward, it wasn't much of a priority and wasn't something I used on a regular basis.

Is Peer Learning Useful in an ESL Classroom?
I believe that peer learning can be very helpful in English as a Second Language classroom. I believe that as a language learner there is nothing more helpful than learning from people around you. I have found that humans are very social beings just by the nature of being human. I believe that we learn best by interacting with people and that this translates especially when learning other languages. I think that it is very beneficial for students at any level to learn from each other to build their skills in every way. I think that having students talk to each other is important for improving verbal communication and that having peers correct each other's papers is a great way to help all... [Read more]
