Can I get a teaching job with an online TEFL certificate? - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ TEFL FAQs
Can I get a teaching job with an online TEFL certificate?
You can certainly get a teaching job with an online TEFL certificate. In fact, you can probably get a teaching job without any kind of qualifications or experience whatsoever. The real question is, can you get a quality teaching job with good pay and comfortable working conditions with an online certificate? The answer is still YES, if you make sure you sign up for the best quality online course you can find.
The main problem for online trainees is the obvious lack of any practical teaching experience. If you can afford a month-long in-class training course that includes multiple hours of teaching practice in a real classroom, you will be able to apply for a wider range of jobs in most parts of the world. If you choose the cheaper... [Read more]

English Grammar - Past Perfect Continuous - Teaching Ideas - TESL
In this TESL training video the teaching idea for the past perfect continuous tense involves giving the students a prompt and asking them to finish it with a sensible answer in the past perfect continuous tense. For example:
I didn't have dinner last night... because I had been snacking all day.
She passed the test... because she had been studying hard.
The past perfect continuous is a rarely used tense and is often quit confusing for learners of English as well as new English teachers. Taking a 120-hour online teaching course with ITTT will give the knowledge needed to make sure you know how to explain such tenses to students the moment you step into your first TESL classroom.
Below you can read feedback from an... [Read more]

English Grammar -- Present Perfect -- Usage --
We have seen that the key word that helps us to remember the Present Perfect tense is forms of the word 'have' plus the past participle form of the verb.
This ITTT video looks at the three main usages of the Present Perfect.
First usage: To talk about indefinite past actions.
I have been to Italy twice. / I have eaten snake.
Second usage: To talk about unfinished past actions
I have lived here for three years. / She has been a teacher since 2010.
Third usage: To talk about past actions with present results.
I have lost my keys. / I have left my computer in the office.
When teaching the Present Perfect tense or any other grammar point it is always important to look for patterns and make it as clear as possible for your students.

Lesson Planning - Part 9 - Correction
When our answers are not correct then, obviously, they need to be corrected but it is quite important that we go through a process of correction that will help students. Quite often they've made a mistake simply because of something like reading the incorrect answer out or misrepresenting what they've actually written down. So, always give the opportunity when a mistake has been made for the student to self-correct first. We can often do this in a nonverbal way to show them that they're not actually correct. We might repeat back what they've said to us in a questioning manner or we may just make a gesture to make sure that they understand that they're not correct. So, we allow for a process of self-correction. It may be that the student has... [Read more]

Productive and Receptive Skills in the ESL Classroom - Why do we speak?
So, we'll focus first of all on a speaking skills lesson and perhaps a starting point for this would be to ask a question which is: Why do we speak to each other? The reason that it's important to ask ourselves this question is that whatever answers there are to this should be present in our lessons. So, why do we speak to each other? Well, there are a multitude of answers to that but when you boil them all down to their essence, they probably actually come down to one or two things. We communicate to each other by speaking because of either a need. We need something. We want something or a desire to achieve something.

What not to do as an EFL teacher? - ✔️ ✔️ ✔️ TEFL FAQs
What not to do as an EFL teacher?
Every teacher, particularly those starting their careers, inevitably stumbles upon some mistakes in the classroom. The key to improving as a teacher is recognizing these errors. In this article, we will examine some of the most common pitfalls new teachers encounter and how to steer clear of them as you grow in experience.
Don’t talk too much
One of the most frequent mistakes by novice teachers is monopolizing the conversation during lessons. Remember, students need ample opportunities to practice speaking the language, which fuels their progress. Limit your talking to essential instruction and steer clear of irrelevant chatter. Encourage students to read answers and provide peer feedback. Maximizing student talk time equates to maximizing their... [Read more]
