Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.
This unit focused on teaching the receptive skills, i.e. reading and listening. The reasons why we read and listen, as well as teaching tips and problem shooting were discussed. An example of a patchwork receptive skill ESA lesson was provided. Presenting interesting material, or generating interest, will be of large consequence in these types of lessons, and I do look forward to using music and film clips as materials.More revision will be needed here as I still feel a little hazy on both conditionals and reported speech even after finishing the task sheets. Both of them are things that I am really am unaware of even though I use both a lot in my everyday speech. Everything makes sense like I understand why a zero conditional is a zero conditional (when something is refutable) but I seem to struggle to really identify it in practice.
