Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit explores everything from meeting students for the first time to their final progress test at the end of the course. Typically, there will be a placement test before the course begins as well as a needs analysis. The placement test gives the teacher a notion of the proficiency in general of his or her students. The needs analysis gives details on what they need or what to know. Built on that, a syllabus can be planned. This unit has brought to my attention the complexity of the classroom. I had a basic (caricature-like) understanding of what it meant to be a teacher. This unit has helped me to understand the different roles that a great teacher must employ and embody. This dynamic paired with the varied needs of students creates a delicate dynamic that requires finesse and care to navigate in order to foster a productive learning environment.
