Date posted:2008-07-29 | Writer: CEDEI School | Email: [email protected]

CEDEI School is seeking TEFL Qualified native English speakers for the 2008-2009 academic year. We are located in Cuenca, which is a small colonial city in the Andes Mountains.

CEDEI School teaches its students about the world, its cultures, traditions, festivals, foods, dress, and traditional stories with the intention of giving each child a sense of belonging to the human race.

Our school opened in September 2003. We teach all ages from 2 year olds to 10 year olds. Each classroom has a Spanish-speaking Ecuadorian teacher and an English-speaking international teacher. The international teachers are expected to teach all content in English and speak to the children in English at all times. Children learn English from native speakers at the same time as they acquire their native language of Spanish. Each member of the international staff is responsible for teaching an extra subject area to other classes of the school. These extra areas are: computer science, art, corporal expression, science and library.

We are seeking people with an education background and/or experience working with children ages 1-10. Spanish ability is helpful but is not required. The international teachers for this school year are asked to commit to working from August 2008 to end of July 2009, and work roughly from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The compensation will include free Spanish classes in the afternoon, free salsa dance classes, free internet access, and a monthly stipend of $296 for teachers of preschool and kindergarten, and $310 for teachers of first through fourth grade. Working at CEDEI School is an excellent opportunity to travel abroad, gain teaching experience, and learn Spanish.

We hope this general information has given you a better idea of how our school works and will assist you in deciding if CEDEI is an organization that you would like to support. If you have any further questions or wish to apply for a position, please send a current resume and cover letter

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Unit 7 Past Tenses We learned in this unit the 4 Past Tenses and the Usages,Teaching Ideas and Structures. Past Simple:Compleded past action at definite time . Past continuous :Action in progress at time in the past. Past Perfect : Past in the past. Past perfect Continuous :Countiuing action in the past up untill an action in the past . I watched the video for this unit and i really liked more the reading one.I have gained some valuable insight in the role class room seating arrangements play on the maintenance of discipline. The importance of building rapport and mutual respect have also been reconfirmed as a vital part in the student-teacher dynamic. The section on giving instructions was particularly informative and gave me some very good, and applicable examples on how to give clear, understandable instructions.
