St. Michael’s School in Santo Domingo seeks an experienced Special Education/Learning Support Teacher who can provide research-based best practices for implementing effective learning support services in the secondary school. 


St. Michael’s School is a 1st through 12th-grade school with rigorous academic demands and a sound character education program. The school’s international curriculum is delivered in the English language, and complemented with Lengua Española and Estudios Sociales classes offered in Spanish in compliance with MINERD requirements. Founded in 1991 by educators Christian Virginia Heinsen, Michelle Morel, and Roxanna Soto. Your role:

The ideal candidate will have experience in working with adolescents, knowledge of instructional modifications, behavioural interventions, and skills in administering, scoring and interpreting special education assessment tools and procedures. 


Qualified candidates will be able to identify and evaluate at-need students, communicate effectively with parents, evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives, and function as IEP manager to assigned students and share expertise with teachers regarding the moderate-need students in our primarily full-inclusion model program. 


Successful candidates understand or have experience with English as a Second Language immersion strategies in the classroom. A TEFL/TESOL certificate is preferred and a licence/degree in Special Education is highly desired.
