Unit Seven focuses on what the teacher needs to know about teaching language structure, vocabulary, and function. It is also good to know what factors make it easier for students to learn. Sometimes it's easy for the teacher to get caught up in alternate definitions or backgrounds to the word, like if the word originated in French or German. This lesson helps the teacher to focus the scope of what's important for the students to know.This lesson goes over the two receptive skills, reading and listening. Students need to learn a variety of skills associated with these two concepts, such as skimming, predicting content, scanning and, there should be a differentiation between reading and listening for purpose or pleasure. It is critical to use a variety of content, striking a balance between what is useful, and what is fun to keep the students engaged and interested.
