Date posted:2008-07-06 | Writer: British Centre | Email: [email protected]

The job involves teaching in a variety of situations and at different levels. Our clients include numerous companies in sectors ranging from the motor industry to mineral water and financial services. We also have ongoing contracts with local schools and university faculties (Engineering and Architecture). Some of the work takes place on site while many courses are run from our centre in Mondovì. These include private and corporate programmes and may be with groups or individuals, old or young. Lessons take place from 8.00am to 10.00pm, and timetables are agreed with teachers so as to provide reasonable working hours and coverage of learner’s needs. The school is recognised by the Italian Ministry of Education.

The British Centre is an authorised Cambridge ESOL centre and we are responsible for running the entire range of exams (KET PET FCE FAE YLE TKT) in the Province of Cuneo. This makes the school well known in the area since exams take place in many of the province’s secondary schools.
Robert Dunn is the Cambridge ESOL Local Secretary

Teaching here will help raise your profile as a teacher since it will place you in contact with a lot of people involved in language teaching as well as providing wide experience. You will have the opportunity to train to become a Cambridge ESOL examiner.

The Location.
Mondovì is 60 km from Turin in the NW province of Cuneo. The town is within 5 minutes of the A6 motorway linking Turin with the coast in Savona (65km). There are also good rail connections and Turin Airport is an hour’s drive.

The area enjoys an excellent climate and is attractively situated between the Maritime Alps (20km), and the Langhe hills. Mondovì itself offers everything expected of a medium sized town in terms of general facilities (hyper markets, outlet stores, library, historical centre, funicular railway, night life, pubs etc) as well as opportunities for skiing (excellent facilities for both down hill and cross country in different locations within 20-30km. All levels catered for, good instructors and reasonable prices), mountain walking and cycling (on and off road). Eating out is inexpensive and there is a good selection of bistros, restaurants and pizzerias. The nearby langhe hills are home to vineyards renowned with names like Barolo. This is where dolchetto is produced along with many other famous whites and reds. The area is also spectacular for scenery with the backdrop of hills and Alps. There are several nearby nature reserves and numerous organisations and clubs. The calendar contains cultural, gastronomic and sports events. See links below for more information about the area.

Please apply with cv asap. Early response preferred in order to make arrangements for accommodation. The email address is given on the job heading page.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit taught the importance of teaching new vocabulary, grammatical structures, and language functions and what students need to know for each area. It showed the criteria for selecting vocabulary including the appropriacy to the students and the task, frequency and coverage, and teachability. Students need to know meaning, use, word grammar, interaction, spelling, and pronunciation when learning new vocabulary. In this unit we covered how to teach vocabulary. We looked at how to select vocabulary for students based on the usability and practical application of the vocabulary and application. Selecting vocabulary that will be used frequently in the class (and in other classes) is important as it will give the student more of an opportunity to practice the words and will thus be more likely to stick in their minds for longer
