TEFL in Jakarta, Indonesia

Date posted:2008-04-01 | Writer: Wall Street Institute | Email: [email protected]

Wall Street Institute is one of the world’s most successful private English language schools and currently operates in 26 countries with over 350 centers.

The first Wall Street Institute in Indonesia opened in the heart of the capital city Jakarta and is strategically located in a popular shopping district and alongside the city’s largest sports complex. The center’s design is one built on the principals of elegance and innovation, intent on redefining the way Indonesians think about English schools.

The second Wall Street Institute in Jakarta has just opened in the northern part of the city and is already a booming success. Located in a young and trendy mall, this center is surrounded by cafes, a wine bar, fitness center, great shops and is fronted by a large outdoor plaza complete with stages for weekly music concerts. Just across the street is a jogging park and the bay park with amusent park, water park, aquarium, water sports, golfing, art market and more is a short taxi ride away.

The majority of the Wall Street Institute’s students are in their twenties or thirties, and are a blend of university students and office workers with a spattering of high school students and housewives. They are generally well-read and well-traveled, making them great conversationalists. The centers have a truly international feel with students from Iran, Kazakhstan, Algeria, Syria, Morocco, Brazil, Argentina, Korea, Japan and more.

Considering the fact that the Wall Street Institute was unknown in Jakarta until February 2007, the success of the center has been phenomenal. Just one year old, the Wall Street Institute is looking to expand as its classes are rapidly filling and demand is growing. Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Future tenses are definitely the most confusing, especially as the present simple and continuous can be used as well. I'm going to have to refer to a few lesson plans online until I feel comfortable creating my own. I am comfortable with the first 3, and can think of a few engage portions for these, such as a casual survey of what students will do that night, and what they will have done by 9pm, or during dinner.Great topic, it refreshes me some details that I couldn´t remember or I had studied a long time ago. Finally, I guess is the idea of this course, not just to learn how to be a good teacher but also, reinforce our knowledge. Also, I might say that I have learned some new usages of present simple and present perfect that i will teach on my next class. Defenelly this is what I was looking for improved my English.
