Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Materials can be divided into two parts: authentic materials and created materials. Authentic materials should be selected carefully because they are not graded for levels. Students are supposed to gain confidence from them, if you choose too hard, it becomes the worse choice. Compared to authentic ones, created materials was used rarely in my class, which I think next time I should put more effort on this one. This unit was dense and introduced a lot of new concepts, new to me at least. Unit Three covered the main pedagogical theories of teaching a new language as well as the ESA (Engage, Study, Activate) structure for a lesson plan. It also gave some examples of activities that could be used in each of those corresponding lesson elements. The nuance that should be used when correcting mistakes was also explained.
