As a TEFL teacher, you will find that Instituto Estelar is a bit different from other language institutes. Rather than hiring hourly employees who live independently and come to work at various times, we are building a community of teachers and staff who are committed to the Estelar lifestyle of teaching, learning, and living cooperatively. We provide various residences where our teachers live, work, socialize, and relax. We have a school where we teach classes to both adults and kids. We host many events and activities in the community for free. We volunteer as part of an organization called Club A that helps kids in an underserved neighborhood in our city
Instituto Estelar is a mid-sized English/Spanish school with 460 English students and 11 English teachers. Our work environment is upbeat and organized. The city of Liberia is walkable, safe, and close to beaches, volcanoes, and many other natural attractions.
We offer a 9-month contract, help with work visa, health insurance and housing provided. Teachers must have a C2 level of English (native level speaker), hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and possess a TEFL, TESOL or CELTA certificate.
We encourage a healthy work-life balance, and teachers work 24 hours per week teaching English, leading language activities for the community, and doing special projects. The workweek is Tuesday afternoon through Saturday evening, and everyone gets Sundays and Mondays off. Teachers often travel together to nearby beaches, waterfalls, and national parks.
