TEFL Positions in Penang

Date posted:2013-01-22 | Writer: Enhance Education Sdn Bhd | Email: [email protected]

We are expanding and need new EFL teachers to start in March, April or May. Enhance Education Sdn Bhd specializes in teaching English. Our main English Language Centre is located in a modern sea-side marina development on the lovely tropical island of Penang, Malaysia. We have also just opened a branch on the mainland immediately opposite the island. In both centres we provide high-quality English language courses in spacious, well-equipped classrooms using interactive student-centred teaching methods. Our courses cover all ages and levels from age 4 years to adults, but there is especially strong demand from pre-school and primary students.

We seek teachers who meet all these essential criteria:

* Substantial recent experience in teaching English to children aged 4 to 12 years old * Native level English speaker with a university degree in any subject * TEFL / CELTA / TESOL or equivalent

Most of our students are part-time, studying with us for 2 - 4 hours per week. This means that teaching schedules have to fit around school and work times with many classes being held at weekends and some in the evenings. Nonetheless we do guarantee all teachers two consecutive rest days each week, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays. We are a progressive employer offering a professionally supportive environment and an internationally competitive pay and benefits package including health insurance and pension premiums. Assistance with relocation costs is available for staff recruited from outside Malaysia.

The delightful Straits Quay marina-mall on Penang Island has attractive bars, restaurants and high-end boutiques. The surrounding neighbourhoods are largely residential and offer many types of accommodation to rent on long or short leases. The branch centre on the mainland is near to the sea, to local facilities and to some residential areas. Commuting to both centres is easy but you will need your own transport unless you live near one of the main bus routes.

Enhance Education Sdn Bhd is a young company that is growing quickly. The senior staff all have strong educational backgrounds and considerable experience: the Principal is Dr Tom Craig-Cameron, formerly Director of British Council Malaysia; the Deputy Principal is Ross Beattie formerly of the Garden International School in Kuala Lumpur; and the two Senior Teachers are Emma Talbot formerly of British Council and Sue Back who is a UK Qualified Teacher.

To apply, please send your cv and a covering note to the e-mail address given on the job heading.  Short-listing will be completed by 5 February. We will reply only to shortlisted applicants.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Predictions based on present evidenceUnit 11 was the first of two units on how to teach different language skills with this unit focusing on receptive skills of reading and listening. This unit taught the reasons why and the different skills on how we read and listen in different situations. The unit then explained how these receptive skills can be taught to learners of English and gave an example of how an ESA lesson would be taught.
