In this unit, I learned about the several factors that affect a student's learning. These include age, motivation, culture, level, and behavior. I also learned about the characteristics of a good teacher. Some of these that stood out to me were the ability to engage all members of the classroom and the knowledge of when to switch between the several roles of an effective teacher. This lesson was helpful in learning the importance of teaching reading to students. The different types of ESA lessons are always beneficial to me as it gives me an idea of how to prepare a class for the different topics. All these ideas and tips can be used to focus on not overwhelming the students with new vocabulary as well as teaching these types of topics at a suitable pace.
