English Grammar -- Present Simple -- Structure -- Online ESL Teachers

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching. This convenient, highly structured design means that you can quickly get to grips with each section before moving onto the next.

I noted that this chapter is well linked to chapter 3 regarding the ESA teaching methods. I was happy to refresh my mind once again about the different sequences and activities that can be completed within them while teaching a class. I also noted that vocabulary, grammatical structure and function are the 3 items highlighted in this chapter and are key when teaching a new language.Essentially much of the content was composed of parts of speech I have learned previously such as nouns, verbs, objects. However, there are many different types of nouns, verbs, and objects. I was able to learn that transitive verbs are followed by an object whereas intransitive verbs do not need an object. For example, \"sleeping\" is a verb, but a person cannot \"sleep\" something.
