First of all, the personality of the child. He's a human, and I want him to stay that way. Therefore, I need to teach this person to learn, not just to know and be able, but to teach him to use knowledge for the benefit of himself and those around him. Knowledge is a power that can destroy and create. And the child learns to make a decision and be responsible. A Lifetime Love for Language Learning - TEFL Blog

Mon, 25 Nov 2019 Elizaveta Pachina Alumni Experiences A Lifetime Love for Language Learning As a young child, I was, for some reason, obsessed with the idea of learning French. I tried a couple of languages, including Finnish at some point, but kept going back to French. I have no idea why because I was never exposed to the culture or the language itself at that age. I doubt I even knew anything about the country itself. I think I assumed learning French would make me sound smarter but, the joke's on younger me, I have no skill in French and never have. The 3 Most Important Things I Learned as an EFL Teacher in Korea - TEFL Blog

Fri, 15 Feb 2019 Jon ITTT Alumni Experiences The 3 Most Important Things I Learned as an EFL Teacher in Korea Looking back at my teaching life, I'm very proud of the teaching experiences I've had. Even though my teaching experiences are limited to one culture, Korea, still they are all very special and unique in their own ways. I started my journey as an EFL teacher a couple of years ago, thinking that I could learn other languages myself. I thought that I would move from place to place, possibly different countries, and learn different languages and get various teaching experiences in different settings. Praising Students: Is it Necessary for ESL Settings? - TEFL Blog

Mon, 27 Jul 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas Praising Students: Is it Necessary for ESL Settings? I am a teacher in a training center for young learners in China, Beijing. Our school has a praise system, to be more precise our school has its own money that students can use to buy some toys from our school's shop. To get this money students should listen to the teacher, do their homework, and pass the tests. The teachers can give them money even for each lesson if they want. And it is really useful to maintain discipline in the classroom. It's the first reason why we should praise the students. The second reason is that if you praise the students it increases their self-esteem and they are more likely to enjoy their course and be motivated during it. Teacher’s Opinion: Building Rapport is of Great Importance - TEFL Blog

Mon, 06 Jul 2020 Elizaveta Pachina Teaching Ideas Teacher’s Opinion: Building Rapport is of Great Importance I would start by saying that talking about my own experience either as a learner or a teacher it is really important to love what you are doing. As a student, I like a teacher that may help me not understand the subject but also be so interested that I would start doing research and learn more about the topic. We as teachers have a lot of responsibility, we can make the difference between someone who has to learn the language only because of her or his parents told them to learn a foreign way to communicate with people from other places.
