Who is a Teacher and What's their Role in a Student’s English Journey?
If you ask different people what the role of a teacher is you'll get different answers from different people. Someone might say the teacher's role is to teach, indeed in the most basic definition that is true, and surely throughout this course, I've been taught effective teaching techniques and have gained insights into new information and thought processes that I have not considered before.

Problems For English Students in Thailand
There exists an inadequate knowledge of the English language amongst the general populous in Thailand. The source of this problem lies within the educational system and can be seen to its fullest effect within Thai schools. This paper reflects my experiences that have been observed from years of teaching within Thai schools. The main aim of this paper is not to advocate conclusive solutions but rather to expand on, identify and confirm an existing problem which is… the criteria for English levels that are taught in Thai schools. The following is one of the numerous problems occurring within the Thai educational system.

The activities listed below are a combination of ideas that are physically and/or mentally stimulating. Games such as ‘What’s The Time Mr. Wolf?’, ‘Basketball’, ‘Volleyball’, ‘Can You …?’, ‘Stand Up Please’ and ‘Blindfold Obstacle Course’ all encourage the students to use English while moving about. They are great for getting the students using English while expending their energy in positive ways.
Activities such as ‘Odd One Out’ and ‘Mastermind’ are mentally stimulating and are excellent ways for the students to use and think about the language creatively. Coursebooks and materials - Dictionaries
The next item we're going to consider is the use of dictionaries and here perhaps the first thing we should do is to make a distinction between the two main types of dictionary and that distinction is between the monolingual and the bilingual dictionary. In a monolingual dictionary you have a word and its associated meaning and those two are both described for example in English so the word and the description of that word are both given in English. Whereas in a bilingual dictionary that word meaning could often be for example the word given in English and the explanation given in Thai and vice versa. So what can we use a dictionary for? Well, within the dictionary itself obviously we can get things like how words are spelled or the... [Read more]
