Reasons Why You Should Complete a TEFL Course Before Starting Teaching
Many non-native English speaking countries only require teachers to have a bachelor's degree, and it can be in any field. It can be a degree in anything at all, thus not having prepared the future teacher for their new job and life. Some other countries don't require a bachelor's degree at all. With the rise in demand for learning English as a second language has come the increased relevance and need for courses such as TEFL. I'm an example of someone who had no background in teaching, and I also didn't take a course before I dove in. I had to "fake it till I made it" and looking back, that was unfair to the students. Even if I wasn't breaking any laws and I was... [Read more]

Amazing Perks of Being a Volunteer Teacher
Being a teacher is not like any other jobs. For example, if you are an engineer and you don't like your job, you can still manage to go to work but to be a teacher, you have to love what you do. It is just like being a mother of 20-30 children. You have to take care of them one by one. You have to be their psychologist, mentor, and idol at the same time. It's not something that you can do just for the money; at least if you're good at your job. That is why being a volunteer in teaching is an excellent way of making this planet better. There are a few reasons to be a volunteer teacher and this essay will mention some of them.

What are the Benefits of Teaching English One-to-One?
Teaching English one to one can have many benefits for the students as well as the teacher. It is a way to create excitement and provide a motivation to learn that is more personalized to the learner. This individualized way of teaching gives the teacher the ability to discover where their student's abilities and their interests lay. By being able to know the students on a deeper level, they can help shape their lessons directly to meet the student's needs. These direct lessons, in turn, can aid in the student's ability to improve their English. Teaching one to one can also benefit the teacher, as they will only need to plan for the individual student, not for thirty students, and... [Read more]

Learning with Diversity
One of the main things to keep in mind at all times as a TEFL teacher is the concept of cultural sensitivity. As a TEFL teacher, many possible scenarios may come up as culturally inappropriate for the country that one may be teaching in at the time. It is important to develop a thorough understanding of how to prepare oneself beforehand as well as the importance behind that understanding of the difference in cultural beliefs and norms. There are many benefits to showing an attitude of acceptance and respect for the cultures. This issue needs to be addressed from all angles to secure a healthy relationship with the students.

Reasons Why TEFL Teachers Should Build Up Their Career
A teacher may be described as a person who helps people to learn. A teacher often works in a classroom. There are many different kinds of teachers. Some teachers teach young children in kindergarten or primary schools. Others teach older children in the middle, junior high, and high schools. A career may also be an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and opportunities for progress. Development may be looking at by first stating what it means to develop. To develop is to grow or cause to grow and become more mature, advanced, or elaborate. The process of creating or being developed or the state of advancement may be... [Read more]

Drilling: Effective or Outdated in a Modern EFL Classroom?
As an instructional strategy, drilling is familiar to all educators. It is best defined as a disciplined and repetitious exercise, used as a mean of teaching and perfecting a skill or procedure. As an instructional strategy, it promotes the acquisition of knowledge or skill through systematic training by multiple repetitions, rehearse, practice, and engages in a rehearsal to learn or become proficient. It is also a common method used by many teachers when introducing new languages to their students. The skills built through drill-and-practice become the foundational building blocks for more meaningful learning.

2 Things to Consider to Plan Lessons Effectively
Lesson planning is at the heart of being an effective teacher. It is a creative process that allows us to make our understanding of second language acquisition and language teaching pedagogy with our knowledge of our learners, the curriculum, and the teaching context. Education is defined as the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction in a formal setting (Cambridge Online Dictionary, 2019). However, the question is in what means is education provided? In unit 17 of the ITTT 120-hour TEFL course, a variety of equipment and aid were discussed. While the different teaching equipment can provide for an effective, successful lesson for the students, outdoor activities are equally important and can provide a range of benefits to English learning students. Important Qualities Needed to be a Successful English Teacher
When I consider the most important aspect of the education system, the very first thing I think of is teachers. I would argue that teachers are the backbone of the education system. Anyone that attended school, regardless of country or region, was once educated by teachers. Even though all of us have that in common, it is impossible to think that everyone had the same experience regarding the teachers that influenced them. The obvious reason is that, just like every person is unique and different, all teachers are unique and distinct. It is sad to admit, but not every certified teacher is a good teacher. There are certain qualities that I believe are necessary to be a... [Read more]

Music is an important element in our lives. When you're on your way to work, you turn on the radio. Music offers encouragement and the strength that one needs. Its importance cannot be taken for granted. It is a tool that connects people of all ages, nationality, and culture. It's not odd to see a child listening to an old rock musician's song. Also, it's not surprising to see an Indian woman listening to Taylor Swift despite the differences in their cultures.
