Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

In this unit, we learnt about the use of course books in class. Although great sources of tried and tested syllabus, they can be outdated, and the teacher may need to create new materials to supplement the course book. For most students, original materials created by the teacher are often more interesting and engaging than the materials in the course book. The ideal is to balance all sources of information when teaching a new language. Not a particularly difficult unit but an integral part that adds to the complexity that is teaching the English language. Good focus on what could be called the receptive half of learning a language. Shorter than to be expected as was mentioned. The unit had a sort of abstract feeling to it, visualizing a lesson was difficult. It felt as if there could have been more to further explain the topic but nothing comes to mind at this time.
