Job Teaching English in Spain (6)

Date posted:2015-04-09 | Writer: Central Andalusian Language Academies | Email: [email protected]

CALAC  (Central Andalusian Language Academies) Schools currently has 15 posts to be filled by TEFL certified teachers. We recruit keen, ambitious, and committed EFL teachers who are interested in rapid professional development. Our students range from very young learners to adults, attending a variety of courses.  A contract with a CALAC school presents an excellent opportunity to become a specialist in an age group or area. Regular in-house training, subsidized external training, extensive teaching resources, and online learning platforms are all part of the job. Classrooms are equipped with internet connection, interactive whiteboards and air-conditioning. Class groups are from 4 to 12 students.

All CALAC schools, incorporating more than 50 teachers and 3,500 students, have been in business between 10 and 30 years, so we can guarantee a friendly, established work environment which is both lively and professional.

The four CALAC schools are united by their proven, long experience in helping teachers enrich their CVs and progress to the next stage in their career. This becomes especially attractive when taking into account the singular locations of our schools. All the centres are situated in small or medium-sized, inland Andalusian towns, where modern and historical Spain live side by side.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

Reading, listening, writing and speaking are all important skills for the students to learn. Reading provides them with visual English where they can translate problem vocabulary whereas listening skills are built more through just the audio excerpts. With correct usage of the Engage, Study, Activate model, teachers can help the students to fully grasp the material using the receptive skills. This unit was helpful because it prepared me to be an actual teacher by discussing the teacher materials and materials used in the classroom. It was a good foundation to actually using the materials in leading a class. It may be something that we, as students, may not consider but it's good information to have as new teachers may use these materials a lot during the beginning of their career.
