Job description
The Kent Institute is recruiting a qualified experienced EFL native level teacher and teacher leader with an outgoing personality, for the upcoming academic year, from October 2020 to June 2021. Last week in September, new teachers will be given an induction to ease them into their new job. Applicants should be passionate about teaching and possess excellent spoken and written communication skills. We offer a nine month renewable contract of up to 20 hours weekly, with a timetable from Monday to Friday evenings and Thursday mornings. We teach a wide range of ages from young learners to adults, from A1 to C2 level, following standards set by Cambridge English Examinations. Group ages and levels will be assigned according to the applicant´s profile.

We offer:

Groups of 10/12 students maximum and 4 minimum, strictly classified according to age and level. (Average of 8 students per class).
Groups of young learners, teenagers, young adults and adults.
Courses taught: General English; Cambridge English exams preparation (Young Learners, KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE); Conversation;
Classroom materials and resource library for teachers;
Teacher support in lesson planning and classroom management;
Objectives clearly set at the beginning of each term.
Interactive boards in all the classrooms;
Wifi in all the classrooms;

Lessons are aimed to encourage students to improve the four basic language skills: listening; speaking; reading; and writing with a strong emphasis on communication, leading most of the students to Cambridge English Examinations.
Typical tasks that should be carried out include:
Teaching position:
• preparing lesson plans according to the teacher´s book;
• presenting lesson planning in the weekly teacher´s meeting;
• deliver high quality general English lessons using varied communicative language teaching methods;
• classroom management skills;
• preparing and setting examination papers;
• marking and providing appropriate feedback on written exams;
• preparing students for Cambridge English Examinations;
• working in strong collaboration with the directors and colleagues;
• creating good rapport with students, peers and superiors;

Teacher leader position:

In addition to the teaching position tasks, the teacher leader should occupy the following leadership roles.

  • A classroom supporter who works in classrooms next to teachers helping by demonstrating, or observing and offering feedback. Supervising colleagues´ work, making sure they are delivering lessons according to the school method and standard using the appropriate tools.
  • A resource provider who assists colleagues by sharing instructional resources with their colleagues
  • An instructional specialist who helps colleagues to implement effective teaching strategies.
  • A curriculum specialist who shares information about content.
  • A mentor who models and acclimates new teachers to the school culture, while offering guidance about instruction, curriculum, procedure, practices, and politics.
  • Close collaborator of the school administrator and director;

Salary and benefits
A nine month renewable contract with social security (From October to June);
Up to 20 teaching hours per week;

Requirements
We require:
native or bilingual speakers with high proficiency in the use of the English language.
a certificate TEFL qualification (CELTA or Cert. TESOL)
education to degree level or equivalent qualification

experience in online teaching
experience in Cambridge English or other official exams preparation.
good command of Spanish (B1), for applicants willing to work with very young learners.
