The Oxford School of English is a well-established language school which provides a wide range of courses: young learners, teens and adults, as well as in-company and ESP classes. The school has a local reputation for providing quality language teaching in what is an exceptional learning environment. We seek a dynamic and dedicated EFL professional with a flair for teaching children and adults. We encourage applicants who wish to improve as teachers and contribute to the school´s reputation for Quality Language Teaching. Applicants must possess a desire to live in Spain and become integrated in the local culture of Badajoz.

All of our teaching is carried out Monday - Friday, mainly in the afternoons and evenings. Class sizes are small, between 6 - 10 students with very few issues regarding discipline. Teachers are provided with their own, well-equipped classroom with projectors and a reading corner. There is a teachers´ room with a reference library, plus computer and internet access. Teachers also have access to the school´s lending library (DVDs, CD-Roms, books, magazines...). In the classroom, you will find your students friendly, enthusiastic and willing to "have a go" in English!

The Oxford School of English is located in Badajoz, Extremadura, south west Spain. This lively border town (Portugal is only 5km from the city centre) has a population of around 150,000 inhabitants. The town, which is a mix of both historic and modern, is famous for its Carnival. Badajoz is a university town which ensures a vibrant social scene. It has great local amenities: theatres, a concert hall, sports´ centres, and so on. Great weather ensures a lifestyle based on eating out in the towns endless number of bars and restaurants and / or outdoor sports and activities.

The cost of living is among the cheapest in Spain: a room in a flat can cost as little as 110€ per month, most of the town is within a 20 minute walk from the centre, so there are no transport costs. "Los Pacences" (the locals) are warm and friendly, being foreign will make you a bit of a curiosity.

Working at The Oxford School of English, Badajoz is ideal for EFL professionals who seek a formal, dynamic EFL environment and who also wish to enjoy a good quality of life away from the "ex-pat" traps of larger Spanish cities and coastal towns.  If you want a taste of authentic Spain then Badajoz is definitely the place for you.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

What an amazing difference the attitude of the teacher makes on the engagement and learning opportunities for the students. Everything from smiling to tone of voice and using their names plays a part in the willingness of the student to learn and the overall effectiveness of the lesson. I feel this is extremely important because it is something each individual teacher has complete control over.In the unit of Past Tenses, there was elaboration on four additional ways of discussing the past. I gained further insight on how to properly use different tenses depending on the situation. There may be some confusion in learning the different past tenses, so I will have to use this unit as a reference when teaching and being aware that this particular subject may really confusing to students.
