It is important to clearly distinguish different roles of a teacher such as monitor, assessor, manager and other in order to avoid overusing one of them in practice. Understanding of students' motivation and characteristics of a good learner can really contribute to conscious choice of studying materials and teaching techniques. It was quite useful to review level descripors of ability in the English language.Teachers need to evaluate their students English language to determine whether the students are making any progress in their learning. With the different types of testing tools the teacher can evaluate their strenghts and weaknesses. I have noticed a very interesting fact about formal / external tests of English for studies and work purposes. All these forms of assessments is to evaluate their language skills.
