TEFL Teaching Job in Poland

Date posted:2009-04-26 | Writer: Progressive School of English | Email: [email protected]

There are many schools in Poland where you can teach. There are only a few where you can develop. At Progressive, we encourage you to do both.

In order to meet our expansion needs, Progressive School of English is looking for young, enthusiastic candidates interested in seeing the world and developing as teachers. Positions are available from mid-August 2009 through June 2010. The ideal candidate will possess a BA Degree in English (or a related field) and/or a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certificate. Previous teaching experience is a definite plus, but not essential. Most important for us is that each candidate is an open-minded, positive and creative individual ready to embrace an exciting teaching experience abroad.

What is Progressive?

Progressive School of English is a thriving English Language school in south-western Poland. Despite being relatively new, we are quickly expanding to become the one of the premier language schools in our city. The reason for this is simple - we specialize in teaching English, nothing else. In addition, many students choose Progressive because we are the only school in our region owned and operated by Native Speakers of English with professional degrees in Language Education.

What to expect?

Progressive School of English solely employs Native Speakers of English. Such a system has obvious benefits for our students but also offers numerous advantages for our teachers. At Progressive, we don't have a token Native Speaker which is sent from one conversation lesson to another, smiling and talking about their country. Rather, we assemble an elite, dynamic group of young teachers who work together to effectively enhance the language skills of their students.

At Progressive, the majority of our students are adults who want to learn English for their professional, academic or private lives. There is a positive relationship between our teachers and students, who very often socialize together outside the classroom environment. At school, this helps to create a healthy classroom atmosphere that is open, upbeat and enjoyable.

During their time in Poland, our teachers are given numerous opportunities to develop their classroom skills. They receive training in the areas of classroom instruction and grammar. This training occurs upon arrival and is on-going throughout the year. The training sessions are conducted by our management - professional teachers who know what it is like to live and work in another country. At Progressive, we pride ourselves on the fact that our teachers are never left out in the cold.

Why Poland?

There are few countries in the world where you can watch history and unprecedented progress unfold before your eyes. This is a daily reality in Poland. Poland has readily embraced the future and is in the midst of rapid change. In fewer than twenty years, Poland has developed and revitalized itself to truly exemplify its status as the 'Heart of Europe'. This is why Poland was officially welcomed into the European Union in 2004 and has been chosen as the co-host of the European Football Championships in 2012.

Economic progress and development are far from the only things that Poland has to offer. It is a land of vast natural beauty, culture and history. In addition, there are few places in the world where one can find such proud people so ready and willing to show off their country and culture. Poles are known the world over for their generous hospitality. Spend some time here and you'll understand why.

Why Rybnik?

Our school is located in Rybnik, a vibrant city famous for natural, scenic beauty and nationally recognized levels of investment. It is a city of more than 140,000 people in the southern state of Silesia near the border with the Czech Republic.

Rybnik is a unique city where splendid nature and a modern approach to development provide large city advantages but with a small town charm. In Rybnik, one can find many restaurants, shopping malls, pubs, beer gardens, cafes and nightclubs to experience Polish culture. In addition, there are vast opportunities for outdoor recreation like skiing, cycling, hiking, sailing and windsurfing.

Rybnik also serves as a perfect base for your travels around Poland and the rest of Europe. Rybnik is located only hour by train from Katowice, the state capital of our region. Besides being a great weekend destination, Katowice is the link to incredible Polish cities like Krakow, Warsaw and Wroclaw. From Katowice, one can also easily reach many popular tourist destinations such as Prague, Vienna, Budapest, or Bratislava all in 4-5 hours.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

I liked this lesson because it has taught me a lot about the different types of modal verbs and has given me exact applications for how they are used. It also talked a little bit about transitive and intransitive verbs and how they are supposed to be used as well. I feel a lot more confident about when to use what type of modal verb. This is because they gave a lot of different examples as to how to use them.Unit 4 covers the general aspects of the tense system and goes further into details of present tense. There are 3 main tenses, namely the past, the present and the future. Each of the tenses has 4 further aspects, which are the simple, continuous, perfect and perfect continuous. In all there are 12 different tenses through the combination of the main tenses and the aspects. I have also learnt about the Forms.
