The United Arab Emirates is a progressive country known for its high standard of living and its safe and family-friendly environment.

The Opportunities

The English Language Center is looking to recruit a small number of well-qualified language instructors. Appointed instructors (male or female) will be part of a multi-cultural team working in the English Language Center.

The English Language Center provides language courses to the University’s pre-baccalaureate students using an integrated skills, content-based approach. Course materials are currently being prepared as part of a textbook initiative funded by the University. Instructors can expect an average teaching load of eighteen hours (across two semesters) with classes that seldom exceed fifteen students per class.

The Requirements

Suitable applicants must have a minimum Certificate IV in TESOL (MA in TESOL/Linguistics preferred), or an MA in a related field and have a minimum of three years teaching experience, preferably at the adult or tertiary level. A recognized teaching qualification is highly desirable.

The Benefits

The University’s benefits package is highly attractive, with competitive salaries free of tax in the United Arab Emirates, housing, a furniture allowance, annual vacation airline tickets for the employee and immediate family, educational subsidies for children and subsidized healthcare for the employee.

To Apply

Please complete an online application at www.zu.ac.ae and attach a letter of application, a current CV, the names and contact details of at least three referees and a statement of undergraduate teaching philosophy.

Below you can read feedback from an ITTT graduate regarding one section of their online TEFL certification course. Each of our online courses is broken down into concise units that focus on specific areas of English language teaching.

This unit was about the use of flashcards, course books and other teacher-created material in the classroom. The lesson covered the advantages and drawbacks of each type of material. In addition, it also covered the when and how of using the types of material. Finally, it incorporated the ESA framework and the use of course books and material to give me an idea on how to incorporate some material into my lessons.Course book can really help to guide the new teacher for her lesson. But she must be sensitive to what is needed by the students because sometimes things in the course book don't fit to what is needed by the students. Still initiative of the teacher is need in choosing materials for her lesson. On the other hand, based on my experience, it was too difficult when there is not course book provided for such subject.
